My Mighty List of Anime Suggestions

Hiya! I watch tons of anime, so I have to give my opinion on all the series' I've watched. They are in alphabetical order and I've assigned them all a list; A List, my favourites of all time; B List, okay; C List, worst ever. Enjoy.

A Vision of Escaflowne - A List. I love A Visions of Escaflowne. It's so ultimately romantic without being the least bit scanky. I seriously love every minute of this series and I still get all shivery when Hitomi turns over the Ace of Serpents. Highly enjoyable!

Ai Yori Yoshi - C List. I confess I've watched this series more than once and I really liked it the first time I saw it, but after I started to analyze it I decided it wasn't that great. It has some very nice moments, but can't seem to stay clean enough for my tastes.

Azumanga Diaho - B List. This was stupid funny, but there is no main story line, so it was hard to get attached to it. Besides, I'm a drama queen.

Bubblegum Crisis 2040 - C List. I have never seen such a weak plot stretched over so many episodes. I really wish I'd stopped watching somewhere around episode nine. Hey, I'd have five hours of my life back.

Cowboy Bebop - B List. I am going to be so flamed for what I'm about to say. This series seemed like a perfect example of snoopopathic literature. P.S. if anyone knows what snoopopathic means, please sign my guestbook saying where it's from - you'll personally get a huge congratulations from me for having a brain and being extremely well read. Huh, maybe I won't be flamed after all^_^!

Crest of the Stars - B List. I can only watch this when I'm in the right mood. Granted, that's not often, but I enjoy it when I do watch it.

D.N.Angel - B List. This show has an excellent premise, and Dark is such an exquisite man-whore that it is hard to resist, but there were still some amazingly pointless episodes.

Evangelion - A List. Excellent! But try not to take it too seriously, 'cause this is majorly addictive.

FLCL - B List. The idea of putting rip cords on guitars and hammering on someone like it's a baseball bat - genius! This series surprised me several times.

Full Metal Alchemist - A List. This series was awesome! It had so many great characters and great plot twists that I found it totally entertaining from beginning to end. If you get a chance to watch this one - totally take the chance.

Full Moon wo Sagashite - A List. This was very seriously the CUTEST thing I have EVER seen. It's 52 episodes long, but if you start watching it, you'll have to watch it to the end.

Get Backers - C List. I just can't understand how anyone could find this entertaining, but it's fairly popular, so there must be something about it. Did anyone else notice how small their heads looked compared to their shoulders?

His and Her Circumstances - C List. This is a Gainax production, which will account for psychological themes. So, it has more of a brain than your average anime. However, towards the end it gets really weird, and not in an Evangelion way, but in a "we ran out of money" kind of way. That being said, I found a few of the themes kind of adult in a "I can't bear to think about this" way. I can't recommend this to anyone.

Louis, the Rune Sorcerer - B List. It's like they gave Gourry's bad side his own series. So, it didn't delight me, but I don't think it sucked. And this is against my will.

Love Hina - C List. Stupid hentai.

Madlax - B List. I think this series would have been a lot more fun for me if I hadn't figured out the main plot line while watching the first episode. I was rather hoping that it would turn out to be more complicated, but unfortunately it didn't. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy the series, because I did. I just don't think I would invest the time to rewatch it.

Martian Successor Nadesico - C List. Another crappy one I wish I'd given up on. Crappy to the end.

Read or Die - A List. With the exception of the weird opening credits, Read or Die was a series I thought would peter out and start to suck, but it never did. It remained interesting to the last.

Rurouni Kenshin - B List. This deserves to be given a better ranking than that of the B List, unfortunately, I can't give it a better rating than that. I got extremely sick while I was watching this series, and since then I can't look at even a picture of Kenshin without wanting to throw up. It's very unfair - especially since I got to like episode 75 or something before I realized that I couldn't go on. I was even thinking of writing a fanfic for it, but I can't now. I would encourage everyone to give this series a whirl if they haven't already seen it - just don't ask me to talk about it - ever.

Scrapped Princess - B List. The anime in this series was so gorgeous. However, I think the story either needed to be edited or the story needed to be redistributed through the episodes. As in they wasted time in some places and crammed vital information in others. I rate it was better than average.

Scryed - B List. I've got just one word for you . . . Ryohou. There is no other reason to watch this series.

Slayers - A List. I confess I am one of those dirty Slayers fans who think that Slayers Next was the best series. The first series was very good too, but I have a personal pet peeve about characters in stories that die and keep coming back, so the whole thing about Rezo wasn't my favourite. But, Slayers Next was so solid. It was beautiful. Zelgadis is in every episode and Xellos is there, and by the end I care so much what happens that I'm shaking. And yeah, I did think that Slayers Try was pretty crappy the first time I saw it, but after reading so much fanfic and so many arguments over its merits - I think I came to my conclusion too hastily. I've gone from "why did I bother to keep this?" to "if you lose that, you're dead". But, I still wouldn't recommend it to a casual anime watcher. I don't expect everyone to enjoy it.

Someday's Dreamers - B List. It's 12 episodes, to it's half the time commitment of everything else. It's another case of the "Hot Guy who Never Does Anything". It's also one where it seems like every episode exists solely to introduce a new character.

Sorcerer Stabber Orphen - C List. By this time, I've grabbed a brain and given up. You know those anime characters that look really cool and like they're about to do something that will blow your mind and then absolutely nothing happens? Yeah . . . it's like that.

Spiral - B List. Basically, if you don't have the time or inclination to watch a whole series - this is your baby. The single episodes were very entertaining, but the ending was so unsatisfying as to ruin the experience as a whole for me.

Star Ocean - C List. Nothing particularly wrong with it. It just couldn't keep my attention.

Stellvia of the Universe - B List. Nothing particularly special, but an excellent one time watch.

Ultra Maniac - B List. The good parts in this series were unusually good; however, there were lots of pointless episodes that made me want to quit watching. I would recommend watching the first five and then skipping to episode 15. That should filter out most of the crap.

You're Under Arrest - C List. All the perverts in the world wouldn't make this any better.
