Pairing

Okay, so just like anyone else, I have my own ideas about pairing. Just in case my ideas don’t speak strongly enough in my fanfic – this is outright now I feel . . . wink!

Zelgadis and Amelia

First, Zelgadis – Zel does seem to have some feelings for Amelia, and shows fairly often that there is something about her that keeps him coming back for more, but I don’t think his feelings are developed enough for him to say, ask her to marry him. The idea just isn’t that advanced in his head. Of course Amelia is wild about him, but she’s been brought up far too well to hunt him down like an animal, so things will stay where they are until something changes his mind.

Zelgadis and Lina

I also really like the idea of pairing Lina with Zel. One of my favourite parts is at the end of Next when Phibrizzo is killing everyone and there is only Martina and Zangalus left. When Martina and Zangulas are talking if you look in the background, Lina is leaning over Zel’s dead body. Amelia and Sylphelle are down too, but it’s Zel she goes to. There are also lots of times when Lina is like, “Do you know what this means?” and the person she turns to is always Zel. They even finish each others’ sentences. I think the series shows a lot of friendship between them, but it doesn’t progress, so I really like fanfic that explores that idea.

If you want someone different than those two for Zel, you’ll have to invent them

Lina and Gourry

Everyone knows she goes well with Gourry even if they’re in denial about it.

Lina and Xellos

About Lina: Besides Zel and Gourry, I really like Lina and Xellos. I think it kinda proves how warped I am, but Lina seems to be the only character who understands anything about Xellos. Everyone else seems to be confused either by the fact that he’s a masuku or that he’s always messing with them.

Xellos and Filia

Don’t hate me. I don’t particularly like Filia. I think it’s because I do like Xellos that I don’t really like Filia, because like many have said before me – they are complete opposites. I love control, and let’s face it kittens, Filia doesn’t have much. It’s like she has a good heart and good intentions, but gets so focused on one thing that she would destroy something very precious to her simply because she wasn’t looking. Xellos isn’t like that. He calculates and schemes until he’s figured out every angle and everything that needs to be taken care of is. Even in his fight with Valgaav, he didn’t forget Filia was there and didn’t allow her to die. If Filia were fighting someone and Xellos got in the way she wouldn’t worry for him at all.  Basically, I think Filia and Xellos are a terrible pair. However, even though I think together they are about as romantic as a sack of hammers, yet because of their differences – pairing them can be hugely entertaining. I love Xellos and Filia fanfic.

Valgaav and Filia

This strikes me as a very real possibility, until the end of Try. That kinda puts an end to it, but when Valgaav appears as a sparkling dark winged angel at the end of Try and talks to Filia – ya gotta think – those two are perfect.   The creators obviously didn’t want that love to happen, so it didn’t. I don’t even know how to stage something like that, so I probably won’t fanfic the idea.
