Saturday June 2nd to Monday June 4th: Southeast Anniversary tour. The club is hosting a tour to Medicine Hat to mark the 40th Anniversary of the club. A detailed tour description is included in the Script and was emailed to all members with necessary details. If you are interested, please contact the tour coordinator Ron Rigby well in advance at <rwrigby@telusplanet.net>  or 403-282-9655.

Wednesday, June 6th: Tim Hortons Camp Day

Following tradition we are once again planning to support Tim Horton’s on Camp Day this year. It will take place on Wednesday June 6. As it the past we will start off from the Home Depot parking lot across from Chinook shopping center at 9:45 am. Our host is the Buntain family who own two stores. We will be visiting briefly the store on MacLeod and end up at the one of 12 Ave (between 11 and 12 St SW) where we will be offered refreshments. I need a headcount in order to provide sufficient parking space for the Model A’s. Please let me know if you plan to attend. Thanks Yvon Picot Ph 403 217 4900

Saturday, June 9th: Spring Tune-up and ‘This Lady Drives a Model A’ Seminar. Our annual voluntary tune-up and safety inspection will once again be held at Christine and Keith Robinson’s farm in Springbank starting at 9:00AM with BBQ lunch served. Our club President is planning the ‘This Lady Drives a Model  A’ seminar at the clubhouse and the Robinson’s farm to teach our better half how to drive the Model A. Refer to the May Script for  details on this seminar and directions to the Robinson farm in Springbank. At the Spring Tune-up, we will also be following the annual exercise to perform a safety inspection on our Model A’s.

Sunday, June 10, 2012: June General Meeting and Ice Cream Social. This year the Ice Cream Social will be held on Sunday rather than during the regular scheduled June meeting to accommodate the members heading to the NW Regional MAFCA meet in Boise. We will meet at the clubhouse on Sunday afternoon and maybe follow with a tour. Watch the May Script for more details.

June 14 to 19th: MAFCA NW Regional Meet Boise, Idaho. Members participating in the 2012 ‘MAFCA NW Regional Meet’ will be travelling to and from Boise, Idaho and participating in Regional Meet events scheduled for that period. Check out this site for more details:  sites.google.com/site/tvamafca

Please let Dean Potter, Tours coordinator (dean@sitogeo.com) know in advance if you plan to attend the Boise Meet to coordinate members travelling en route.

Tuesday, June 26th: Beverly Centre, Glenmore, 1729-90th Ave SW.  Each year, our club visits the Beverly Centre to entertain the residents with a show of our cars. We need up to 7 cars during the day for this event. Watch the June Script for more details. Tour coordinator: Kathy Chudek.

Saturday, July 7th: Bell Helicopter Stampede event. Our club has been invited to show our cars at the Bell Helicopter hangar from noon to 4PM.  This is a Stampede event for employees, customers, vendors and customers of Bell Helicopters.

More details to follow as we get closer to the date. Tour coordinator: Dean Potter

Wednesday, July 11th: Stampede Dinner and Tour, Boston Pizza. We would never miss this great annual event with dinner at Boston Pizza on Southland Drive, followed by a downtown tour and ending with ice cream. Tour coordinator: Norm Devitt

Saturday, July 21st: Lougheed House “A Ride Through Time”. The Model A and Model T Clubs have been invited to the Lougheed House again.  We should be at the historic Lougheed House at 707 – 13th Avenue SW between 10:00 - 10:30am to get setup before people arrive.  Wear your period costumes if you have them.  The event goes from 11am to 4pm.  There will be a lunch provided to those participating.   Please contact Troy at 403-240-4668 if you are coming. Tour coordinator: Troy Dillabough.

August 24 – 26, 2012: Northwest Anniversary Tour, Rocky Mountain House-Nordegg-Sask. River Crossing. As part of our activities this year to mark the 40th Anniversary of the club, we have a tour scheduled for from Friday August 24th to Sunday August 26th with the first night stop in Rocky Mountain House and the second night on the Banff-Jasper Highway near Saskatchewan River Crossing. We plan this tour along the David Thompson Highway following Saskatchewan River through the town of Nordegg . On Sunday, we will follow the Banff-Jasper Highway back down to Highway 1 and 1A through Lake Louise and Banff and back to Calgary. Accommodations are already booked for the two nights on the road. If you are interested in joining us, please contact the tours director at 403 240 1277 or dean@sitogeo.com to get the reservations in Rocky Mountain House and Saskatchewan River Crossing in your name.  Presently, there are 15 rooms booked so if you are interested, please sign up asap. We travel through mountain terrain in our Model A’s  , but never really tackle any elevations as we follow the  Saskatchewan River Valley . Tour coordinators: Dean Potter; Mike Hill

June 2nd, 3rd, (& maybe 4th) ‘Southeast Anniversary Tour’

An overview of the tour:

In view of this being our Club’s 40th anniversary year two overnight anniversary tours plus a 40th anniversary function of some type later in the year are being planned. The two anniversary tours are being designed to visit locations not previously visited as well as facilitate participation by some of our geographically dispersed members. Having previously toured to the South and Southwest it was decided that the first of our two 2012 anniversary tours would be to the  Southeast with Brooks, Medicine Hat, and Cypress Hills Provincial Park being our targeted destination points.

In addition, because of the overall 600km travel distance from and back to Calgary involved, this tour is also being designated as our first “Trailer Queens” event with the use of trailers being an accepted option by those having to travel the 300km’s or more each way during the course of the weekend. As always, those who intend to drive are also most welcome to participate, particularly in view of our having several members within a 100 mile/ 160km radius of Med. Hat. Yvon Picot (403-217-4900 / cell. 403-968-6001) has graciously offered to act as the Coordinator for those members who might prefer to drive from Calgary instead of resort to using trailers.

Anticipated activities:

Some details have yet to be finalized but in general we anticipate the excursion to evolve as follows:

Saturday, June 2nd AM: Travel to Brooks via the Trans-Canada highway for an 11:30 lunch at O’Shea’s followed by a viewing of the historic Brooks Aqueduct. (Some participants may join us either en-route, at Brooks, or simply meet us in Medicine Hat).

Saturday Afternoon : Travel to Med. Hat, off-load the Model A’s, check in. Note: The June 2nd and 3rd weekend is a busy one in Med. Hat but the Comfort Inn is conveniently located and does have a variety of reasonably price room options available: <Comfort Inn Med Hat>. (Call 403-504-1700 and ask for the ‘Model A’s Car Club Excursion discount’). Because of the variety of room options available, instead of reserving a specific block  of rooms Members intending to reserve there should do so independently. Also, the ‘Med. Hat Lodge Hotel & Casino’ is located directly across Dunmore Road from the Comfort Inn although the Lodge is already fully booked excepting for a variety of suites which ‘Melanie’ advises begin at $159 plus tax for that time period.

Saturday Evening : A ‘no host 7:00PM Supper’ at the Paradise Valley Golf Club:  will provide an opportunity to meet with our “Local Club Members’ plus a few ‘non-Club-Member Model A owners’ that would like to meet us, view our cars, and potentially join the Club.

Sunday until Mid-PM : Details re: a possible group breakfast are still being determined but the  group will subsequently depart on an approximate 100 mile/160km total distance, ‘Box Lunch Tour to the Cypress Hills Park area’, - - 10 or 15 miles of which may consist of unsealed roads. Alternative options for those Members who might prefer not to participate in the Cypress Hills Park tour could consist of ‘golfing at the 18 hole, par 3, Paradise Valley Club’ or visiting Med. Hat’s ‘Clay Industries National Historic district’.

Sunday Afternoon  through Monday Those wishing to depart would have time to return home before dark  while those interested in staying a second night in order to view additional points of interest while in the area could do so. Our intent would be to coordinate the return of these two groups to preclude Members having to travel solo on either day.

Response requests: In order to allow us to make specific arrangements for the tour, Members are requested to both pose any questions they may have as well as express their intent to participate by contacting Ron Rigby at their earliest convenience. <rwrigby@telusplanet.net> or 403-282-9655.

Additionally, recognizing that some potential participants might want to borrow a trailer, in order to facilitate the coordination of trailers Ron would appreciate it if they as well as Club members who are willing to lend participants in this particular tour a trailer, would let him know.
