July 11th, 2001 – "DINNER AT THE DINER" Once again Norm and Doreen Devitt organized a great evening for the group! Activities began at 6:00 p.m. with nine of the Club's Model "A's" assembling at the Heritage Park parking area to welcome Gord and Shirley Watt's newly completed Roadster on its first excursion with the group. Norm
and Doreen then led the entourage to "Rockin' Robin's Diner"
where they were met by two more of the Club's "A's" plus Jim and
Mil Rouse and 'Doc' Walkemeyer who had arrived via newer vehicles directly
from consoling the Rouse Roadster which was laid up in the "A's –
ward" with a clutch problem! The group then collectively proceeded to enjoy the atmosphere
of the Diner, some good food, and even a set of three appreciation
awards in the form of Rockin' Robin's coffee mugs and gift
certificates. Upon
departing from the Diner the five of the "A's" who were free for
the balance of the evening first proceeded to give the fifty's cars
congregated at Willy's Restaurant on McLeod Trail the
'Ahooga salute' before heading for City Hall.
At the east end of the Stephen Avenue Mall the group turned west to
zig-zag their way down the mall to third street west where they turned
north and continued the process until reaching Eau Claire Market. A relaxing stop at Eau Claire not only provided an opportunity for the public to view the cars but for the Club members to review what had proven to be another enjoyable "Model A's evening". ....Ron Rigby |
