Spring Tune-UP
Session - 2001
On
May 9, the Club had their annual spring tune-up, safety check and BS session at
the clubhouse west of Calgary. I
counted a total of 14 cars, mostly sedans and coupes, with about ten modern
vehicles. Only three Roadsters and
one Phaeton showed up. Saturday
morning at 9:30 must have been too early for the open car people, where as the
closed car people were there right on time.
I
have not been in the Club long enough to know if there is a noticeable
difference between closed car people and open car people.
The closed car people do seem a bit brighter, but that maybe related to
better blood flow to brain because of the higher cockpit temperatures.
I will keep you posted on my continuing study of this phenomenon.

The
morning started with brake adjustments, steering checks, light tests, tune-ups
and the question “was there anything else you needed fixed”.
All the cars where in good condition and only needed a few tweaks here
and there. There was a competition
to see who could leave the longest skid marks on the driveway during the brake
tests. The second most important
check, next to the brakes, was the horn. No
Model A was allowed to leave the clubhouse without a good AHOOGA blasting from
the horn.

Paul
Chudek opened up the Model A Trailer Barbeque and “Chef” Ted Lobley began
cooking wieners. There is nothing finer than being out in the country eating a
hotdog cooked on a Model A barbeque. For
those who didn’t make it, where were you?
Thanks,
to the master mechanics: Jim Callander, Gary Callander, Paul Chudek, Dave Dodd,
Ron Rigby, and Murray Walkemeyer. Thanks,
also goes out to Irene Rigby, Kathy Chudek and Louise Fentiman who will now be
refer to as “The Groupies”. The
rest of us stood around and BSed.
