The club had its annual tune-up session at the clubhouse on Saturday, May 13. It was well attended, with 15 people showing up. There were 10 model As there. As usual, Dad and I adjusted brakes. Gord Watt was there to help inspect the brakes, steering, front axle and other safety concerns. Murray Walkmeyer helped with miscellaneous problems. The cars were generally in good shape, the brakes adjusted well, and front ends were reasonably tight. We tested the brakes on each one by doing a panic stop in front of the clubhouse, making sure that the gate was open in case we had a runaway. Fortunately, everybody passed the test. I even got my own brakes working much better than they were before. Paul Chudek worked hard to get the horns AHOOGAing satisfactorily. We also checked the lights on all the cars. Murray spent some time getting Dave Quons coupe "Flossie" running properly. Any cars that werent quite running smoothly had their timing fine-tuned. Everyone there helped in whatever way they could. The weather cooperated nicely for this event, and it was a pleasant way to spend much of the day. Thank you to Kathy Chudek for the delicious muffins. The session wound down around 3:00 in the afternoon, with a few model As heading home ready for the touring season. It would have been nice to see even more cars there. Im sure that they can all use some work, to avoid those road-side seminars during a tour .... Gary Callander |
