Janik Pelsorn was a talent scout from a Tibana Gas mining city.  While scouting for entertainment for his employer, he noticed Binaca Baca, the Wookie with minty fresh breath, in a Trandoshan Arena.  Seeing in Binaca much entertainment potential, Janik paid a hefty sum, saving Binaca’s pelt from becoming a Trandoshan trophy.   Janik’s employer, not impressed with Binaca, promptly fired Mr. Pelsorn.  Janik took his investment, on the ‘road’, trying to recover his losses, entertaining audiences on fringe worlds.  Janik had Binaca (or ‘Minty’ as he called him) attempt to entertain in different ways, from the Gungan Toss on Naboo to Jawa Juggling on Tatooine, but nothing seemed to bring in large quantities of credits.  Of course, Binaca, owing Janik a life debt, willingly entertained as he requested.  Hitching yet another ride on a freighter, Binaca and Janik arrived on Ord Mantell, to see how easily entertained the people here were.  While having a few drinks at Qexi's, a local bar, Janik was inadvertently killed in the crossfire of a local dispute.  Free of his life debt, Minty met Renci Tosh and joined the rebellion.  He was soon assigned to Lieutenant Pollard at Commander Ackbar's Shantipole Project.
