She is also a graduate of UBC with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. Clinical specialization (in psychiatry) was her stream of studies and clinical work in graduate school. "The Role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist in B.C." is the title of her master's thesis. She was accepted into the UBC Nursing Honours Society which led to becoming a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Her clinical experience is extensive and includes working in staff, teaching and administrative positions in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and rehabilitation. She has been a lecturer in schools of nursing at both the hospital program and university program levels. Before going to Zurich to study and train as an analyst she worked for 9 years in the role of Sexual Health Clinician with both men and women who have physical disabilities. Teaching of student of various health professions and professionals who work with physically and mentally challenged persons was a significant part of this role.
Shirley graduated from the C. G. Jung Institut-Zurich after four years of full time
study. "Rose - image and symbol: a dynamism of psyche" is the title of her thesis
work. She is a member of the Association of Graduates of Analytical
Psychologists of the C. G. Jung Institut-Zurich and a member of the International
Association of Analytical Psychology (IAAP), which is the credentialling body for
Jungian analysts. She is now in private practice as a Jungian analyst in
Vancouver, B.C., Canada. In addition to her private practice she has given
lectures and talks at various locations in Vancouver and Victoria. For further
