SatView Help

Given the longitude of a geostationary satellite and the geographic location of an earth terminal, SatView calculates the required orientation of the earth terminal's antenna to point at the satellite (View tab). If you also know the location of the ground station, SatView can calculate the one way transit time from your terminal to the ground station (Delay tab).

Input format

All angles can be entered in:
  • Decimal degrees;
  • Degrees, minutes, and seconds (DDD MM'SS") where:
    1. DDD are degrees;
    2. MM are minutes;
    3. SS are seconds;
    4. Degrees must be followed by at least one space;
    5. Minutes must be followed by (') with no intervening space;
    6. Seconds must be followed by (") with no intervening space;
    7. Otherwise an arbitraty amount of space is allowed between fields;
    8. At least one of degrees, minutes, or seconds must be present.
Angles can be prefixed with a minus sign indicating either south (latitude) or west (longitude). Alternatively, angles can be followed with a letter indicating direction: N, S, E, or W (lower case is acceptable).
