CPTED TRAINING
Experience Mike Sheard has been a key figure in British Columbia CPTED training for a number of years. As a member of the Delta Police he was responsible for the creation of the police CPTED Program and the reference for a number of publications used in BC in relation to the practical applications of CPTED in urban planning. Training The basic Level One CPTED Course outline uses a multi-media format including extensive use of cohorts, self-directed exercises and interactive problem-based learning opportunities. Participants can expect to work with others from very different backgrounds than themselves in a series of mutual explorations aimed at cross-training practitioners to enhance the adult learning experience. The videos, practical exercises, and group presentations used are all designed to enhance the cohesive in the cohorts quickly to teach the value of the holistic approach to crime prevention.
The course includes both night and daytime exercises out in the community that enhance the reality of the learning and provide added opportunities to share insights and experience. out students usually comment that these opportunities to network provided some of the best learning experiences of the course. The result: practical strategies that have been practiced in the classroom and on the streets by Participants so that they return to their parent organizations ready to hit the ground running.
