COMFORTER is an 'art-action' of Lois Klassen.*
Fabric for the COMFORTERS have (so far) originated in 13 countries. They have been sent by mail to the following address from friends and art correspondents (Mail Artists). All the participants have recieved, in return, photos and documentation about the project.
The COMFORTERS are completed in Vancouver, Canada at the studio of Lois Klassen or in sewing circles or school classrooms. Completed COMFORTERS are delivered to the MCC Warehouse in Abbotsford, BC from where they are loaded into containers destined for international sites requiring immediate, emergency aid. They are finally distributed by local groups like the Red Cross or Red Crescent Societies.
