Randeesh   - roots reggae artist residing on  B.C.'s Sunshine Coast
The Skatalites  - The foundation of Jamaican music, this orchestra has been in existance for over 40 years!
James Brown  - THE godfather of soul!  JB is still going strong at age 72!
Fela Kuti -
musician, politician, statesman and mentor to the people of west Africa
Peter Tosh  - founding member of The Wailers and a guiding force to the downtrodden of the Third World
Miles Davis - one of jazz' most influential and adventurous musicians
Blue Note Records - prestigous jazz label releasing some of the genre's finest music over the past 65 years.
VP Records  - contemporary reggae label specializing in both roots and dancehall artists.
Verve Records - label specializing in jazz and world-beat music
Trojan Records - British label specializing in vintage Jamaican ska, rock-steady, and reggae
World Music Network - label that produces the "Rough Guide" series of world-beat compilations
Blood And Fire Records - label releasing excellent re-issues of  long, lost Jamaican albums
Putumayo World Music - world-beat compilations with an uplifting, positive vibe
Studio One Records - heritage Jamaican label spanning the ska, rock-steady, reggae and dancehall eras
Lee Scratch Perry - arguably one of Jamaica's most brilliant and eccentric musicians, producer, "dubmeister" & madman
 Eddie Harris - cutting edge jazz saxophone player was the first to "electrify" (amplify)  the horn
Aswad- British reggae group noted for soaring vocal harmonies, a crisp horn section and incredible production
Tony Allen - collaborator & musical director of Fela Kuti's group Africa '70 who helped develop 'Afropop' as a musical style
Micahel Franti & Spearhead -mellow R&B meets the Revolution:  this group has something to say!
Herbie Hancock - pianist whose 45+ years recording, has played every type of jazz from mainstream to fusion to funk
Rumba Calzada - infectuous latin rythyms from Vancouver B.C. based salsa/jazz group
Jamaican Riddim Directory - search engine for recorded backing tracks, known in Jamaica as "riddims"
Down Beat Magazine  - THE jazz magazine - publishes monthly and online
Six Degrees Records - San Fransisco based world-beat label
The Beat  - THE magazine devoted to reggae, world-beat, African and Latin music.  Publishes bi-monthly
Jazziz - monthly magazine covering a number of contemporary jazz sub-genres; includes a sampler CD compilation
DJ Nerstylist - one of my favourite mix-DJ's whose creations are regularly heard on the station

Monty McFarlane  - coolest of the cool, Monty was DJ at CKMO, C-FUN, CKLG, CIMA, CJVB & for years at CJOR
 Frank Callaghan  -visionary DJ/PD who introduced "Boss Radio" at CKLG-AM & "underground/progressive" at LG-FM
