SharonBlythe has lived in the Hope area for most of her life after moving here in 1948 at the age of seven.

She has been interested in the arts community since 1984. At that time she became a member of the Village Arts & Crafts Association which was instrumental in the moving of the CN Railway Station from the end of 5th Avenue to it’s present location at 111 Old Hope Princeton Way.

She regained her interest in painting in 1980. Since then she has painted with oils, acrylics and Chinese watercolors, which is called Chinese brush painting. For many years she wrote a column about the arts in The Agassiz Advance, (now closed), the Seniors Choice News Magazine out of Delta, and for The Hope Standard. She has illustrated a children’s book by Hope, BC author Deb Pine, which is on sale at The Arts Gallery in Hope. She began designing greeting cards in 2003.

In 1997 she collaborated with Blaine Orloff to form the Hope Artists’ Guild. She served as President as well as in other Executive positions until December of 2004. She decided she needed to devote more time to a project she organized in August of 2003 when she recruited five Hope residents and formed the Peace Monument for Hope Committee. This group is working on a project which will see a bronze of a small child releasing a dove, sculpted by local artist, world renowned sculptor, John Barney Weaver, placed in Memorial Park in downtown Hope.

Donations to support this project can be made at the Hope and District Municipal Hall.

In June of 2005 she became one of the founding members of the Hope & District Arts Council.
