About Us

Special Occasions has been providing the Cowichan Valley with party supplies since 1988 and is still going strong. Nigel and Gina Smith purchased the business in 1999 and have concentrated on expanding the scope of Special Occasions. To that end, in 2003 they purchased another trusted Cowichan Valley company: Leisure Time Tent Rentals.

In addition to gaining Leisure Time's large tent inventory, Special Occasions was able to hire Leisure Time's employees. This was invaluable for Nigel and Gina. Leisure Time had been providing tent rental service for ten years and had a staff that was highly trained in setting up event tents.

“We carry a great selection of canopy tents, tables, chairs and linens. If you want something that is not listed in our brochure or on our website, please ask us because we are constantly adding new items!” says Gina.

Bubble and fog machines add that extra element of fun! When you are fund raising or hosting a child’s birthday party, Special Occasions can also provide cotton candy, popcorn, and sno-cone machines.

Our newest items are the Jungle Adventure bouncy castle, Ugolini slushy machine and a giant chocolate fountain.
