Assistant Children's Minister

Duties:

  1. Assist the Parish Children's minister in building up the Godly Play programme, preparing lessons and teaching an average of two times per month.
  2. Assist in developing a 'Mums & Tots' style drop-in programme.
  3. Attend Education Committee and/or Sunday School meetings an average of once per month.

Qualifications:

Godly Play is a Montessori-based approach to Sunday School. Godly Play teaches children the art of using religious language - parable, sacred story, silence, and liturgical action. We are looking for someone with knowledge of either Godly Play or Montessori-style of education. The candidate should feel comfortable in a liturgical worship setting. He or she should have a good memory, for the story-telling happens without the aid of books or notes. Creativity, a sense of fun, comfort in prayer, and a love of children and of God are all qualities that we seek.

There may be the opportunity to become an accredited Godly Play instructor after some experience with the programme and with the parish.

Hours:

4-5 h/wk (September-end of June)
