A pleasant autumn day in the forest, not too far from Victoria. Two young mushroom hunters are ready to tramp through the underbrush.
Fr. O'Brian gave us an introduction to mushroom hunting.
"Here's one!"
Here's two.
Hypomyces lactifluorum, actually a parasitic ascomycete that colonizes Lactarius mushrooms and turns them orange, but none the less tasty.
Everyone is back at the picnic area, eager for a sample. Mostly lobster mushrooms and chanterelles, with a few hedgehogs.
Fr. O'Brian dry-sautés some of the harvest.
