Rector and Family

The Rev. Dr. Travis O'Brian grew up in Victoria and graduated from Oak Bay High School. He went on to study at UBC in Vancouver, McGill and Concordia in Montréal, and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, with a year's exploratory work in theology at Oxford. His doctoral studies at Leuven focussed on the writings of Danish philosopher and theologian Søren Kierkegaard. He now holds a BA in English Literature and a PhD in Philosophy.

Jasmin O'Brian was born and raised near Dusseldorf. She met Travis at a concert while studying at the University of London. They were married in Freiburg in 1998. Jasmin holds an MA in German Literature from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg.

In 2002, having completed his doctoral studies, they moved to British Columbia so that he could study for the priesthood at the Vancouver School of Theology. In 2005, he became an assistant curate at Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria, and taught religious education at the Cathedral School.

Travis and Jasmin currently have four children, Tristan, Fiona, Kamilla and Matthias.
