OVERVIEW
So you want to download lots of music, and you want to download it fast. But most of all you want it to be free and easy? Well Bittorrents could be for you. There is no sign up for anything through the whole process, and you can find almost any genre of music you could be looking for. This quick guide will show you how its done. Some people find the steps for downloading music using torrent very confusing and give up after only a few minutes of trying to understand it, this guide is meant to give a clear and concise way to get the music onto your computer with minimal frustration. |
||
STEP 1
Get a downloader.
First things first. Your going to need a program that know what to do with the torrents as you find them on the net (this will be explained in later steps) There are many programs out there probbly 100's by now, I personally prefer Bitlord. It is quick 'n' easy and has some nice little features that other programs do not. BITLORD: http://www.bitlord.com/download.php You could also try using the program that is made by the guy who invented torrents (Bram Cohen) at; BITTORRENT: http://www.bittorrent.com/ Get one of those, or find your own if you prefer, instal it real fast and then move on to Step 2. Take a look at the screen shots below if you dont get this part. |

STEP 2
Find your music.
Okay, you got the program to download the music, and have set it up and now you want to figure out how to actaully get some fricken music!? (Or files, images, videos...anything.) First of you gotta find a list of files so you can chose what you want to download. In order to do this you are going to need to surf the net a little bit, find some sites that off what you are looking for. I download alot of music, probbly 3 or 4 albums a day. Once you get a little understanding how torrents work it will become very easy to find sites that off them, trust me. I prefer TORRENTSPY. Its tough to reccomend only 1 site becuase copyright laws continually take sites down that offer torrents, but they pop up again in days. Use the screeenshot if you are having torubles following so far. TORRENT SPY: http://www.torrentspy.com

STEP 3
Get your music.
You've now installed the program for getting the music, and youve found a file that you want to download. Hopefully you tried using Torrent Spy for this first one, because this might get a little more confusing if you decided not to follow along. Find the file you want and click it, a new window will appear with the words "download torrent" click it. (Check screen shot below) The message box shown on screen shot 2 below should pop up if you have your BitLord working right. If not then you set it up a little diffrent, not to worry, i'll show you how to get them working manually if this doesnt pop up. Click open and another window will appear, shown in screen 3. Click "OK" and the download will begin! That is the basic steps to starting the download process, it should be starting up just like that. There are a few tips and tricks I can offer in the next steps to make sure you get files as fast as you can, sometimes you can get an album in 15 minutes or less as you learn about "seeds" and some of the more advanced terminology regarding torrents. |

STEP 4
Retrive music from your computer.
So now we have started the download and its most likely downloading pretty fast. How can you see how much is donwloaded? Simple. Open bitlord from the "task bar", thats located on the bottom right of you start menu in most cases (check screenshot 1 below). Open the BitLord window, and youll se a readout of what Bitlord is currently doing. How many files you are downloaing and what rate they are being downloaded at, among other things. (see screenshot 2 below) One it gets to 100% in bitlord you have downloaded the album or whatever it is you are downloading. Now where is it? You can set where you want Bitlord to download files to in its properties menu, but by default things will go to C:\Program Files\BitLord\Downloads (If you have set it all up using defult methods) Screenshot 3 shows an example of how the files will look when you go to retrieve them. |
