Stone Garden Observatory

Canada

Home

The Stone Garden Observatory is a private, owner-built roll-off-roof observatory in western Canada.

The observatory was built in the summer of 2008, and houses a Meade 8” Schmidt-Newtonian reflector and a William Optics Megrez 72FD apo refractor on an Astro-Physics Mach1 GTO mount. On clear nights when I’m not tied up with work, I can often be found imaging in my observatory.

Our climate is continental, so warm in summer and cold in winter, and at 54°N the long summer days and cold winter nights present some imaging challenges. However,  I am fortunate to live in a rural area with little light pollution and dark skies.

I’m phasing out my postings on this site and posting new material and reprocessed material to my blog at:

I find the blog format easier to post to and update, and as I reprocess images with my improving processing skills, I’ll post them to my blog.
