Club Members cars make it to the movies

October 1999

updated March 2001

Recently our club was contacted by a transportation coordinator at CBC to provide a pair of matching period specific cars for a movie shoot. Thanks to our registry records, we were able to offer them the two E30 convertibles they were looking for. The cars have been used for several days of filming in and around the Vancouver area. These pictures are from shooting day 15 of 20.
The film is locally produced and directed by Scorn Productions, and will air on CBC as a made for
TV movie in the spring of 2001.
Here are some shots of the cars being worked with on a rainy Saturday in 1999. When the movie is complete, you won't know it was rainy day. Photos courtesy of

Two E30 cabrios from the club were used
The actual car that Darren's grandmother bought for him was a 1989 E30 325iC in light blue

The cars used in the movie were:
a 1988 325iC in Bronzite Beige
and a 1992 E30 318iC in Kaschmirbeige

with skillful editing of shots, most viewers won't realize the cars were different

Filming with the cars was done at Whitcliffe Park, on Lonsdale in Norht Vancouver, on the Cyress Bowl Road, in Tsawassen and in Richmond.

The sections at Whytecliffe Park were choosen because of similarity to an area in Victoria
