gurur devo maheshvarah

guru sakshaat param brahma

tasmai sri gurave namah

Om. The guru, the enlightened spiritual teacher, is Brahma the creator, Vishnu the protector and Maheshvara (Siva) the destroyer. The Guru is verily the Supreme Brahman. Salutations to That Guru.

Om. Prostrations to the Guru, Sivananda, who is the form of Satchidananda (Existence-Consciousness-Bliss Absolute), who is peace itself, without any support and Self-Effulgent.

We worship the Three-eyed One (Lord Siva), Who is fragrant and Who nourishes well all beings. May He liberate us from death for the sake if immortality, even as the cucumber is severed from its bondage (to the creeper).
