GURU STOTRAS


 

brahamanandam, paramasukhadam, kevalam, jnanamurtim

dwandwatitam, gaganasadrsham, tattwamasya, dilakshyam

ekam nityam vimalamachalam, sarvadi sakshibhutam

bhavatitam, trigunarahitam, sadgurum tamnamami

gaganasadrsham, ekam, satchidananda rupam

vimalamachalam, adyam, tattwamasya dilakshayam

sakalavishaya mulam, sarvadhi sakshibhutam

parama sukhada bhavam, satgurum bhayami

The embodiment of the Bliss of Brahman, The Giver of Supreme Happiness, The Free, The personification of Wisdom, The One beyond all dualities, Infinite as the sky, Indicated by scriptural expressions as "Tat Twam Asi", (Thou Art that); The one, eternal, Pure, Immovable, The Witness beyond the Intellect of every one; beyond all manifestations; free from all attributes - my salutations to the Enlightened Guru.

 

yasyantarnidamadhyam, na hi karacharanam, namagotram na sutram

no jatirnaiva varanam, na bhavati purusho, no napusam, na ca stree

nakaram, no vikaram, na hi janimaranam, nasti punyam na papam

no tattwam, tattwamekam, sahajasmaranam, sad gurum tamnamami

I prostrate before that Sadguru, who has no beginning, no middle, no end, no hands, no feet, no caste, no color, Who is neither male nor female, Who has no form, no change, no birth, no death, no virtue, no vice, no element of creation, Who is the Truth and Who is the Natural Homogenous Essence.

gururbrahma gururvishnur gururdevo maheshwara

gurursakshat param brahma, tasmai sree, guruve namah

The Guru, the enlightened spiritual teacher, is Brahma, the creator; Vishnu, the protector; and Maheshwara, the destroyer. The Guru is verily the Supreme Brahman. Salutations to That Guru.

 

caitanyam sasvatam santam, vyomatitam niranjanam

nada bindu kalatatitam, tasmai sriguruve namah

I salute that Guru who is Pure Consciousness Itself, The Permanent One, Serene, beyond ether, spotless, who is beyond sound, space and time.

ajnana timirandasya, jnana jnana slalkaya

chaksurun militam yena, tasmai sriguruve namah

I prostrate to that Guru, who has opened with the collyrium stick of knowledge, the eyes of him who was rendered blind by the darkness of ignorance.

 

akhanda mandalakaram, vyaptam yena caracaram

tatpadam darisitam yena, tasmai sriguruve namah

By whose grace the One Infinite Reality That pervades the whole manifestation is revealed to me, my salutation to That Guru.

mannatha sri jagannathah, madguruh sri jagadguruh

mamatma sarvabhutatma, tasmai sriguruve namah

I bow to that Guru, who is my Lord of the Universe, my own Self, the Self of all beings.

 

dhyanamulam gururmurtih, pujamulam guruh padam

mantramulam gurur vakyam, moksamulam gurur krpa

The Guru's form is the basis of meditation. His feet are the root of worship. His words are the source of Mantra and His grace is the root cause of salvation.

Om namah sivaya guruve, satchidananda murtaye

nishprapancaya santaya, niralambaya tejase

Om Prostration to the Guru, who is Existence, Bliss, Absolute; who is peaceful without any support and Self-Effulgent.

 

nitya sudham nirabhasam, nirakaram niranjanam

nity abodham chidanandam, guru brahma namamayam

I prostrate to that Guru, who is the Eternally Pure Brahman, free from reflection, formless, taintless, eternally awake as Pure Consciousness and Bliss.

nidhaye sarva vidyanam, bhisaje bhavaroginam

guruve sarvalokanam, sri dakshinamurtaye namah

I prostrate to Dakshinamurti, Who is the abode of all knowledge, Who is the physician to those affected with the disease of worldly existence, and Who is the Guru of all the worlds.
