Most of the prayers below can be found in the book, "Sivananda Ashram Daily Prayers", published by The Divine Life Society, Rishikesh 1999. The format is meant primarily to respond to a request made by many English speaking visitors to the Ashram, who are unfamiliar with the Sanskrit language, but who wish to participate meaningfully in the morning and evening recitation of the Mantras herein. Our intention, therefore, is not to provide a scholarly-perfect translation, but rather one intended for ease in sight-reading by our English speaking guests. We believe that with practice, the ear will pick up the nuances of intonation and pronunciation. Note: Many of the Sivananda Ashram Prayers and all of the Paduka Puja Prayers can be downloaded as audio files from the Maryland DLS Site, in either RealMedia or MP3 file format.
