Akihiro Tanto
There were a number of smiths who used the mei of Akihiro and I am not certain which man made this tanto, but I think it was late Shinto or Shinshinto. This sword is mounted in shirasaya, and is in good polish. The sword has very ell worked and bright O-Mokume hada.
There is ji nie and chikei and utsuri in the jitetsu in the Soshu style. The hamon is suguha in Nie-decki with sunagashi and is hotsure. The tanto has a nagasa of 29.7cm or 11 ¾ inches cutting edge. The tang is ubu, two mekugi ana and is signed Akihiro. Price $ 3,200.00 |
