Asia's Lark Ascending

"Lark Ascending" is a cute little filly out of Fan's Asia by Menuhin. Foaled April 4th 2004, she has remained as a light bay with a broad , regular blaze. As a yearling she stands about 15 hands (152 cms), so will probably outgrow her talented dam.

Amy chose the name after listening to the music of the same name, which Vaughan Williams was inspired to compose by the poem by George Meredith of the same name . The lines of the poem seem to be describing Amy's spirit, and young Lark as a yearling is certainly a spirited young filly.

Ralph Vaughan Williams was an alumnus of Tim Dundas's old school in Cheltenham, and this piece was voted (June 2, 2002) by Loebrich.org readers as the top English Classical composition of all time.

The photos above and below were taken by Gail's cousin Dionne Horsefall while she was visiting Tadpole Farm in July 2005
