Our resident designer Susan
Reid
has sewn and made
toys, dolls and
bears for many
years now.
In 1995, she took a
class to learn how to make
a jointed mohair teddy
bear.
After that she began
to create her own
styles and ideas
"in the fur". |
These bears are made under the
label Bear 2 Luv
'cause Susan firmly believes that although her designs are often collectibles
made of expensive fabrics and materials, they should not be just sitting on the
shelf. Each is a "Bear 2 Luv"; and needs to be properly hugged and
taken about so that they may provide the proper nurturing that their owner
requires !
Fabrics range from Mohair, Plush and recycled fur coats
depending on the requirements of the job that that Teddy is designed to
fill. Bears come in all sizes, usually from 4 to 30 inches. A bear can be
designed to meet your needs. Susan loves a creative challenge.
Contact her, if you have an idea for a teddy bear and would like to have it
designed.
Pre-sewn kits are available for the
bear-ginner non-sewer to just stuff, close, finish the head and joint the bear
to have your own 10 inch teddy bear. Susan offers introductory workshops
for you to complete a bear in four to six hours depending on the size of the
group. See our Bear in a Bag page.
An avid photographer, Susan finds teddy
bears to be an ideal subject matter. They love to be photographed and will
pose for hours. She makes greeting cards using
these charming photographs. The photos are mounted on quality cards with
matching envelopes. The inside of the cards are blank to allow you to create
your own message.
There are some sad old bears out there
that need a little Tender Loving Care and a minor repair.
The up side of this is that this usually means that these bears have been
well-loved. Upon request, Susan has taken some bears in to what has become
known as the TLC Clinic.
In order to enhance her Teddy Bear
business, Susan began to take courses in Web Design
and now offers to help you design your web presence.
Susan also writes
internet/computer articles for the Canadian Teddy Bear News.
In 2000 she collaborated with Patricia Atchison to create and publish the
first Teddy Bear Directory of Canada.
An updated edition of the Teddy Bear Directory of Canada is now available online.
As you can see, she is thoroughly
immersed in the Teddy Bear world.
If you have any questions or comments
about Ted E. Bear's Emporium, please contact Susan.
She would love to hear from you.
Thanks,
Ted
