Tharsis Books is a small publisher and does not normally extend credit. Prepayment is required on all orders from bookstores (but with the exceptions listed below) and jobbers. Although orders without prepayment will be accepted and processed (invoices will be mailed with Shipped Date 'Pending' and a request for prepayment), books will not be shipped before prepayment is made.
ALTHOUGH THARSIS BOOKS TAKES GREAT CARE TO ENSURE THAT SHIPMENTS ARE SECURELY PACKED (books are shipped in plastic wrap and immobilized in cartons or shipping bags), ANY BOOKS DAMAGED IN SHIPMENT MAY BE RETURNED WITHIN 14 DAYS, AND WILL BE REPLACED AT PUBLISHER'S EXPENSE, OR PREPAYMENT REFUNDED IF NOT IN STOCK. Please note that this offer to replace books damaged in shipment applies BOTH to trade shipments and to books shipped to private persons.
Undamaged books unsold by bookstores after six months may be returned at purchaser's expense, for credit or refund. NOTICE. Books shipped for refund must be packed securely, so as to prevent damage in shipment; they should be wrapped in plastic and immobilized in their shipping containers; books not so protected are highly likely to suffer damage in shipment, and if so, will not be eligible for refund. This provision does not apply to contract distributors or wholesalers.
Credit is extended only on library orders, orders from college bookstores, orders from wholesalers where credit conditions warrant, and orders from the large on-line booksellers in Canada and the United States.

Shipping cost is $5.25 per shipment plus $2.25 for each book. Delivery is 1-3 days(urban areas), 5-7 days (rural).

B. TRADE SHIPMENTS TO U.S.A (Prices in U.S. dollars)
Option 1: CANADA POST U.S. Ground Mail:

Shipping cost is $3.75 per shipment plus $1.25 for each book. Delivery is 14 days on average.
Option 2: CANADA POST Express:
Shipping cost is $6.95 per shipment plus $2.25 per book. Delivery is 2-4 days.

The preferred method of ordering is online, direct to Tharsis Books warehouse, with payment via the popular and reliable international payment service PAYPAL. Note that this requires payment in U.S. dollars (if you are ordering from Canada and paying through PAYPAL, please convert the Canadian sum to U.S. dollars)
When you order online using the PAYPAL payment service, you get Free Shipping (regular mail) to U.S.A and Canada, since we are saved considerable order processing charges; overseas shipments get a 20% discount from the list price instead of free shipping, but the customer must pay the shipping cost to overseas destinations (see below for details).
You may also order by conventional mail and check, or by fax and credit card, but we do NOT offer Free Shipping or price discounts with these methods of ordering.
Great care will be taken with an order from a private person, and shipment will be prompt, practically always within one business day.
Mail us a letter with the shipping address, book titles, and quantities, total order value (books are charged at full list price), and email address (to enable us to let you know we've shipped the books) with enclosed check to:

EITHER email your order (shipping address, book titles, quantity of each, and total cost) to Tharsis Books, OR submit an online order form, but make your payment to PAYPAL. Payment to PAYPAL must be in U.S. dollars.
PAYPAL.COM is the popular and secure on-line payments service both in the U.S. and internationally. The price of each book is all you pay if you want shipment to U.S.A. or Canada -- Shipping is Free with regular mail (you must pay the shipping for shipments elsewhere, but you get a 20% discount from the price instead). If you are not already registered with PAYPAL, you will have to register with PAYPAL first, however. (You can still pay at once, although it takes only a few minutes to register, but it may take a few days for PAYPAL to validate your credit card information initially, and confirm that you really have paid).
PAYPAL works like a world-wide bank. It is very secure, even recommended by the Wall St. Journal -- paying via PAYPAL is more secure than paying by check.
You have to do two separate things to order online at Tharsis Books:
TO ORDER ONLINE:
STEP 1. You send us the order: EITHER: (a) email us the order (with shipping address, book titles, quantities, and order value) at Tharsis Books Email,
OR: (b) click the following link to fetch the order form,
fill it out, and submit (which generates an email to us with the order information).
STEP 2. You pay PAYPAL, by clicking on the PAYPAL logo below:
Clicking on the logo will get you to a page at PAYPAL. You will see a form (top half of page) with just four entries, where you would need to make only the last two entries, for Account ID and Amount, as follows immediately below:

You would complete this PAYPAL page as shown above, making only two entries, if you were John Q. Smith from Denver and had submitted an order to Tharsis Books for U.S.$24.95.
In other words, you use your name and city as your (Tharsis Books) Account ID, which together with the date and the amount will be sufficient for us to identify you--even if you are called John Smith.
NOTE: All payments must be in U.S. dollars -- PAYPAL requirement.
NOTE ALSO: If you do not have a PAYPAL account, you will have to register with PAYPAL first, but you can still pay.
HOW DOES IT WORK? Your funds go from your credit card account to PAYPAL, which places them in our account, for us to extract later. If you change your mind about the trade, you can reverse the transaction and PAYPAL will put the funds back in your account. As soon as PAYPAL has the received the funds (in seconds), they will email Tharsis Books to let us know you've paid, so that we can begin shipping your order. It's as simple as shopping at Amazon. Note that Tharsis Books never gets to see your credit card information. You pay only PAYPAL, and PAYPAL then pays us.
SECURITY: It's just about impossible to cheat PAYPAL -- if you do anything that even looks like trying to cheat, they will be very quick about canceling your PAYPAL account.
If your order is actually a present, send us the happy thought ("Happy Birthday, Mortimer. Enjoy the present. Best wishes, Felicia.") by mail, fax or email, or in the slot in the on-line order form, and we'll enclose it with the shipment, on suitable paper, in suitable sized font.

In making up the order, remember that there is a 20% book price discount when ordering online with PAYPAL for shipment overseas, and that you have to pay in U.S. dollars. You must pay the shipping cost.
