Recently Billy Graham stated in his radio broadcast, "In these days we ought to hold our Bible in one hand and our newspaper In the other hand." This is very true.  We are living in terrifying and important times.  It seems that the stage is being set right now for Armageddon.

The prophecies of the Bible always come to pass.  Many hundreds have already been fulfilled and many are being fulfilled right today.  The Jews once had their own country (1451 B.C.-70 A.D.) and it was prophesied that they would be scattered into all the world and it came to pass. (Lev. 26:33.) It was also prophesied that they would be gathered back in the latter days to their home land and they are doing just that (Isa. 11: 11-14.)

It was also prophesied that all the nations of the world will be gathered together in the "Valley of Armageddon" for a great battle in the latter days, and this is beginning to shape up.

The Bible fully describes the battle of Armageddon.  First there is to be a gathering of many armies, representing all nations in the world.  These armies will gather in the vicinity of Palestine and eventually they will camp at Armageddon.

The last seven years of this age is called the Tribulation Period.  During that time there will be a great king known in Bible prophecy as the Antichrist.  He will rule a confederation of ten nations and come out of the "Revived Roman Empire" (Rev. 17:12; Dan. 7:24).

The Old Roman Empire had two parts to it. One was the European part. (West). The other part was the Arabian part.(East). So in theory, you can see how the revived Old Roman Empire would very easily become the Home base for the rise of the Antichrist. An alignment between East and West Factions would result in a phenomenally large army all aligned under the Antichrist and poised to take over the Middle East and all will be pledged to the annihilation of Israel and the Jews.

At the beginning of the Tribulation Period, the Antichrist will take over Palestine (Dan. 11:36-45).

At the middle of the Tribulation Period, the Antichrist will turn on the Jews and try to destroy them all (Dan. 7:25; 8:24; Rev. 12:17; 13:7).

The nations of the world will be deceived by the Antichrist and his False Prophet (11 Thess. 2:9-12; Rev. 13:14) and they will then help him destroy Israel.

At the end of the Tribulation Period all of these efforts to destroy Israel will come to a great climax as the armies of the world surround Jerusalem and try to destroy that great city (Zech. 14).

This battle at Jerusalem will be the battle of Armageddon.  The Messiah (lit. interpretation.  "Help will come"), Jesus Christ, will come just about the time Jerusalem is almost destroyed.

He will set up His Kingdom on earth and rule the world for a thousand years of peace (Rev. 20:4).

Armageddon will be the war that ends all wars.  There never has been or ever will be again such a great slaughter and time of judgement.

The following scriptures describe Armageddon: (Matt. 24:21, 22; Dan. 12:1, Rev. 15:15-20; Zeph. 3:8; Rev. 19:19; Joel 3:2; Zech. 12:3; 14:1; Isa. 13, 24; Jer. 30:5-9; Rev. 16:14-16.)

Let us look at current events.

Many people wonder why the Christian nations are to be included in the Armageddon army.  First of all the Christians will all be gone out of the world at the rapture.  Secondly, the nations of the world will be deceived by the Anti-Christ.

The trouble in the Middle East may die down from time to time but it will always start in again with growing intensity.  Russia is now arming the Arab countries and this will eventually cause more war in the Middle East.  The influx of immigrants into Israel will create a need for more territory.  These two factors are causing the political pressure to rise in the Middle East and eventually there will be an explosion, "Armageddon."

Rev. 16:16, "And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon."

Rev. 19:15, "And out of his (Jesus Christ) mouth goeth a sharp sword, (the judgements of God), that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God."

The reason God is going to punish the nations at Armageddon is because they have mistreated the Jew, God's chosen people (Joel 3:2) and because God's patience about the growing sin and hatred in the world has come to an end (Isa. 13:1 1; 2:17).

For seven years preceding Armageddon, God will send many judgements upon the world and Armageddon will be the climax of this time of judgement.

God has provided a way of escape from judgement through Jesus Christ.  God is love.  He doesn't want you to go to Hell to suffer for your sins.  That is why He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to the world to die for your sins.  God is also a just God and He must punish sin.  If you will repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ into your heart you will not be punished for your sins because Jesus Christ shed His blood at Calvary for you and was punished for you.  As a result of this, God can and will completely forgive you of all of your sins.

The Bible tells us in (I Thess. 4:16-17) and in many other places that Jesus is coming back to earth (the Rapture) to take the Christians to Heaven before the Great Tribulation of the "last days".  Friend, Jesus is coming to take the born again Christians to Heaven soon.

All the prophecies have been fulfilled that are supposed to be fulfilled before the rapture.  Sinner, are you ready?  Backslider, if you are ever going to get back to God you had better do it soon.  Christians, we are living in  the "Last Days" when we need to pray, read our Bibles and witness like we never have before. "The night is coming when no man can work."

Dear friend, turn to God before it is too late.  Turn to God and receive a fuller, happier, more abundant life than you ever thought possible.  Do it today.

Let Us Pray Together--

PRAY: "God be merciful to me a sinner. Receive me now for Christ's sake. Cleanse me from my sin by your precious blood, shed on the cross for me; lead me to be Baptized and fill me with your Holy Spirit. Teach me to pray each day; to read Your will for my life from your word, the Bible; and help me to worship and serve You in the fellowship of your church. I thank you Lord Jesus Christ. AMEN!
