The Song Of The Free

The wounded snake its hood unfurls,
The flame stirred up doth blaze,
The desert air resounds the calls
Of heart-struck lion's rage.

The cloud puts forth it deluge strength
When lightning cleaves its breast,
When the soul is stirred to its in most depth
Great ones unfold their best.

Let eyes grow dim and heart grow faint,
And friendship fail and love betray,
Let Fate its hundred horrors send,
And clotted darkness block the way.

All nature wear one angry frown,
To crush you out - still know, my soul,
You are Divine. March on and on,
Nor right nor left but to the goal.

Nor angel I, nor man, nor brute,
Nor body, mind, nor he nor she,
The books do stop in wonder mute
To tell my nature; I am He.

Before the sun, the moon, the earth,
Before the stars or comets free,
Before e'en time has had its birth,
I was, I am, and I will be.

The beauteous earth, the glorious sun,
The calm sweet moon, the spangled sky,
Causation's law do make them run;
They live in bonds, in bonds they die.

And mind its mantle dreamy net
Cast o'er them all and holds them fast.
In warp and woof of thought are set,
Earth, hells, and heavens, or worst or best.

Know these are but the outer crust -
All space and time, all effect, cause.
I am beyond all sense, all thoughts,
The witness of the universe.

Not two nor many, 'tis but one,
And thus in me all me's I have;
I cannot hate, I cannot shun
Myself from me, I can but love.

From dreams awake, from bonds be free,
Be not afraid. This mystery,
My shadow, cannot frighten me,
Know once for all that I am He.

What is the spiritual life?

Here we are all seekers, seekers of the infinite Light and the eternal Truth. What does this mean? It means that we have accepted the spiritual life soulfully and consciously.

The paramount question is, "What is the spiritual life?" The spiritual life is something that is natural and normal. It is always natural and it is always normal, unlike other things that we come across in our day-to-day multifarious activities. The spiritual life is normal and natural precisely because it knows its Source. Its Source is God the infinite Light and God the eternal Truth.

When we follow the spiritual life, we come to feel that a life of peace need not always remain a far cry. We come to feel that a life of love, the love that expands, need not always remain a far cry. Everything that fulfils us divinely and supremely, we can achieve and claim as our very own if we follow the spiritual life. Right now Peace, Light and Bliss in abundant measure we do not have at our disposal. But when we practise spirituality, when our inner cry, which we call aspiration, climbs up high, higher, highest, at that time Peace, Light and Bliss we get not only in abundant measure but in infinite measure. And we can achieve and treasure these divine qualities in the inmost recesses of our hearts. When we practise the spiritual life soulfully, devotedly and unconditionally, we try to bring to the fore the divinity that we all have. And this divinity is nothing short of our perfection.

Here we are all seekers. Each seeker represents the ideal and the real. The ideal is self-transcendence and the real is God's all-pervading Consciousness.

If we want to grow into the real and the ideal in us, we have to clean our mind thoroughly of the undivine thoughts that are constantly assailing us. And we have to empty our heart and fill it with infinite Light and Delight. Then God the Real and God the Ideal will be able to sing and dance in our aspiring being.

Here we are all seekers. We are all chosen instruments of the Supreme, our Beloved Supreme, the Eternal Pilot. We can prove this soulful statement of ours, not by words but by deeds, by our serving love and loving service.

Loving service. Our loving service can prove to the world at large that we are the chosen instruments of the Supreme, for the Supreme. When we love the Supreme soulfully, devotedly and unconditionally in our aspiring mind, we heighten our God-Height; and when we serve the Supreme soulfully, devotedly and unconditionally in our aspiring mind, we deepen our God-Depth.

Since we are the chosen instruments of the Supreme, our immediate necessity is God-realisation and our absolute duty is God-manifestation. In the fulfilment of our immediate necessity, we can become the torch-bearers of infinite Truth and the harbingers of God-Vision within us and without. In the fulfilment of our absolute duty, we discover that we are God-seeds and God-fruits. Let us offer our God-seed to the Supreme; let us place it at His Feet, so it may grow into a divine tree that can lift humanity to the highest transcendental Height. Let us also offer to the Supreme our God-fruit. Let us place our God-fruit at His Feet for His Manifestation, His total and complete Manifestation here on earth.

YOUR JOURNEY

There is a journey awaiting you
It comes in truth and promise
When you reach the point of not knowing who you are or where to go
This most precious but often painful passage is the journey of yourself
You will travel to places never before visited,
Where you meet unspoken fears and unearth buried truths
You will climb high and perilous mountains...those that rise up from inside yourself
You will explore forgotten waters held deep in the sea of your soul
You will be stranded in the wilderness and find a way through pathless land
You will be lost before you are found...You will be empty before you are full
You will cry the deep sobs of the earth and tears of rain will cleanse the house around your heart
In time...because life, like birth and death, knows its own time
Your fears and struggles and unknowing will be transformed
You will become a mountain place where eagles soar
You will become a reflecting pool which sees and knows the mysteries of your life
Your heart will be light like a butterfly as you follow the currents of its true desires
The flight of the honeybee will be yours as you seek the nectar of what brings sweetens to your daily life
Most of all you will become who you truly are
Your life will hold truth and promise and meaning
And the heart of the heavens will hold your heart.

God speaks to each of us

God speaks to each of us before we are,
Before he's formed us then, in cloudy speech,
But only then, he speaks these words to each
And silently walks with us from the dark:

Driven by your senses, dare
To the edge of longing. Grow
Like a fire's shadow casting glare
Behind assembled things, so you can spread
Their shapes on me as clothes.
Don't leave me bare.

Let it all happen to you: beauty and dread.
Simply go no feeling is too much
And only this way can we stay in touch.

Near here is the land
That they call Life.
You'll know when you arrive
By how real it is.

Give me your hand.

Rainer Maria Rilke

"My poet-child, I want you to sing with Me:
I barter nothing with time and deeds.
My cosmic Play is done.
The One Transcendental I was.
The Many Universal I am.
I am the Soul-Flower of My Eternity.
I am the Heart-Fragrance of My Infinity."

There is a point where in the mystery of

existence contradictions meet;

where movement is not all movement

and stillness is not all stillness;

where the idea and the form,

the within and the without, are united;

where infinite becomes finite,

yet not losing its infinity.

Look To this Day

 Look to this day:

For it is life, the very life of life.

In its brief course

Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.

The bliss of growth,

The glory of action,

The splendour of achievement

Are but experiences of time.

For yesterday is but a dream

And tomorrow is only a vision;

And today well-lived, makes

Yesterday a dream of happiness

And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well therefore to this day;

Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!

Friendship

I think a while of Love, and while I think,
Love is to me a world,
Sole meat and sweetest drink,
And close connecting link
Tween heaven and earth.

I only know it is, not how or why,
My greatest happiness;
However hard I try,
Not if I were to die,
Can I explain.

I fain would ask my friend how it can be,
But when the time arrives,
Then Love is more lovely
Than anything to me,
And so I'm dumb.

For if the truth were known, Love cannot speak,
But only thinks and does;
Though surely out 'twill leak
Without the help of Greek,
Or any tongue.

A man may love the truth and practise it,
Beauty he may admire,
And goodness not omit,
As much as may befit
To reverence.

But only when these three together meet,
As they always incline,
And make one soul the seat,
And favorite retreat,
Of loveliness;

When under kindred shape, like loves and hates
And a kindred nature,
Proclaim us to be mates,
Exposed to equal fates
Eternally;

And each may other help, and service do,
Drawing Love's bands more tight,
Service he ne'er shall rue
While one and one make two,
And two are one;

In such case only doth man fully prove
Fully as man can do,
What power there is in Love
His inmost soul to move
Resistlessly.

    Tears of Joy

When I behold Thy peerless face.
    Beaming with love, O Lord.
What fear have I of earthly woe
Or of the frown of sorrow?

As the first ray of the dawning sun dispels the dark.
So too, Lord, when Thy blessed light
    Bursts forth within the heart.
It scatters all our grief and pain with sweetest balm.

When on Thy love and grace I ponder,
    In my heart’s deepest depths.
Tears of joy stream down my cheeks
    beyond restraining.

    Hail, Gracious Lord! Hail.
Gracious One! I shall proclaim Thy love.
May my life-breath depart from me as
    I perform Thy works.

    The Truth

    The Truth is stirless
Other force may be presumed to move
This then is best for confidence
    When oldest Cedars swerve

    And Oaks untwist their fists
    And Mountains feeble lean
    How excellent a Body, that
    Stands without a Bone

    How vigorous a Force
    That holds without a Prop
Truth stays Herself and every man
    That trusts Her boldly up

    Emily Dickinson

    Faith and Doubt

O what is faith and what is doubt?

Faith is life-sun beyond the grave.

Doubt is the battle lost, within, without.

A doubter cries: "Me, none can save."

     Sri Chinmoy

    Freedom

"We fight for the outer freedom.
We cry for the inner freedom.
With the outer freedom, we see and rule the four corners of the globe.
With the inner freedom, we see the Soul and become the Goal of the entire universe."

    Sri Chinmoy

    Unity

We try to realise the essential unity of the world
    with the conscious soul of man;

we learn to perceive the unity held together
by the one Eternal Spirit, whose power creates the earth,
    the sky, and the stars,

and at the same time irradiates our minds with
    the light of a consciousness

that moves and exits in unbroken continuity with the outer world.

    Tagore

The Self Is Known To Everyone

The Self is known to every one but not clearly.
    You always exist.
The Be-ing is the Self. ‘I am’ is the name of God.
    Of all definitions of God,
none is indeed so well put as the Biblical statement
‘I AM THAT I AM’ in Exodus (Chap.3).
    There are other statements,
such as Brahmaivaham, Aham Brahmasmi and Soham.
But none is so direct as the name JEHOVAH = I AM.
The Absolute Being is what is—It is the Self.
It is God. Knowing the Self, God is known.
In fact God is none other than the Self

    Ramana Maharshi

    A Year In Heaven

    ONE year among the angels, beloved, thou hast been;
One year has heaven's white portal shut back the sound of sin:
And yet no voice, no whisper, comes floating down from thee,
To tell us what glad wonder a year of heaven may be.

Our hearts before it listen, the beautiful closed gate:
The silence yearns around us; we listen and we wait.
    It is thy heavenly birthday, on earth thy lilies bloom;
In thine immortal garland canst find for these no room?
    Thou lovedst all things lovely when walking with us here;
Now, from the heights of heaven, seems earth no longer dear?
We cannot paint thee moving in white-robed state afar,
Nor dream our flower of comfort a cool and distant star.

Heaven is but life made richer: therein can be no loss:
    To meet our love and longing thou hast no gulf to cross;
    No adamant between us uprears its rocky screen;
A veil before us only; -- thou in the light serene.

    That veil 'twixt earth and heaven a breath might waft aside;
We breathe one air, beloved, we follow one dear Guide:
Passed in to open vision, out of our mists and rain,
Thou seest how sorrow blossoms; how peace is won from pain.

And half we feel thee leaning from thy deep calm of bliss,
To say of earth, "Beloved, how beautiful it is
    The lilies in this splendor, -- the green leaves in this dew;
0, earth is also heaven, with God's light clothed anew!"

So, when the sky seems bluer, and when the blossoms wear
Some tender, mystic shading we never knew was there,
    We'll say "We see things earthly by light of sainted eyes;
She bends where we are gazing, to-day, from Paradise."

Because we know thee near us, and nearer still to Him
Who fills thy cup of being with glory to the brim,
We will not stain with grieving our fair, though fainter light,
But cling to thee in spirit as if thou wert in sight.

And as in waves of beauty the swift years come and go,
Upon celestial currents our deeper life shall flow,
Hearing, from that sweet country where blighting never came,
Love chime the hours immortal, in earth and heaven the same.

    Lucy Larcom (1824-1893)

    A Community of the Spirit

There is a community of the spirit.
Join it, and feel the delight
of walking in the noisy street
    and being the noise.

    Drink all your passion,
    and be a disgrace.

    Close both eyes
to see with the other eye.

    Open your hands,
if you want to be held.

    Sit down in the circle.

Quit acting like a wolf, and feel
    the shepherd's love filling you.

    At night, your beloved wanders.
    Don't accept consolations.

    Close your mouth against food.
Taste the lover's mouth in yours.

You moan, "She left me." "He left me."
    Twenty more will come.

    Be empty of worrying.
    Think of who created thought!

Why do you stay in prison
when the door is so wide open?

Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking.
    Live in silence.

Flow down and down in always
    widening rings of being.

    Hope Abides

    Hope abides; therefore I abide.
Countless frustrations have not cowed me.
I am still alive, vibrant with life.
    The black cloud will disappear,
The morning sun will appear once again
    In all its supernal glory.

    My Love of Light

My love of light is my spiritual Will.
Within it is the power infinite.
I give fear no place in my life.
My love of light is God's Smile of satisfaction.

God's supreme Love manifests in me and through me
To transform my human problems into my divine opportunities.

My animal human love is my unnatural experience and uncertain possibility.

My divine human love is my natural experience and certain inevitability of my living in the Eternal Now.

My love throbbingly says: "God is all blessing." God's Love smilingly says: "My child is all gratitude."

Love radiates the life of harmony,
brightens the joy consciousness and sharpens the sword of intuition.
Love is always ready to meet man's every soulful demand.
Love conquers all that is unlike God.
It is, indeed, supreme over all.

Love gives me my importance in the cosmic Vision of God.
Nobody remembers me save my love.
    My sole treasure is love.
    Love's treasure is God's Heart.

Love is the undeniable truth of my identity as God's son, chosen son.
Love is the unique combination of Heaven's freedom and earth's discipline.
In Heaven's freedom is earth's emancipation.
In earth's discipline is Heaven's manifestation.

No time-born desire can rend my love of light.
My love of light flies beyond the widespread net of death.
Mine is the love that has the birthless origin and the deathless end

    Sri Chinmoy

    THE WAY THINGS SHOULD

    What will
our children do in the morning?

Will they wake with their hearts wanting to play,
    the way wings
    should?

Will they have dreamed the needed flights and gathered
the strength from the planets that all
men and women need to balance
    the wonderful charms of
    the earth

so that her power and beauty does not make us forget our own?

I know all about the ways of the heart – how it wants to be alive.

    Love so needs to love
that it will endure almost anything, even abuse,
just to flicker for a moment. But the sky’s mouth is kind,
its song will never hurt you, for I sing those words.

What will our children do in the morning
if they do not see us
    fly?

    Daniel Ladinsky

"Do not keep the alabaster box of your friendship
sealed up until your friends are dead.

    Fill their lives with sweetness.
    Speak approving, cheering words
while their ears can hear them,
    and while their hearts
can be thrilled and made happier.

    The kind of things you
mean to say when they are gone,
    say before they go."

    George W. Childs

"To be an angel, one need not have wings.
In giving love there is an equal grace.
Nor need one seek the aura in the face,
As love unveils the beauty of all things."

    By Francois Couperin.

    “ Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
    old memories of pleasure
    ancient histories of pain.
    Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
    from our souls.”

    Maya Angelou

    The Road Home

You must travel your road like there has never been another before you.
And each mountain you climb will be easier if you leave the last one behind.
Let each river you cross cleanse and quench you for you can only drown
    in your own fears,
or loose the road in blinding tears.
Travel that road like there will never be another before you.
Inspect it and feel it every inch of the way.
It’s a road you should know,
for all of it’s beauty and struggle,
its mountains and valleys are made from your mind ----
    It’s your choice.
    Your Spirit -
    YOUR Soul!

" The first peace, which is the most important, is that
which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship,
their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that
at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this center
is really everywhere, it is within each of us."

    FIRE IN THE SOUL

It's that burning fire that we are all one,
It's that burning fire that what I do to
my brother and sister I do to myself.
It's that burning fire that I must be
    strong and tell the truth.
It's that burning fire that I do have
the unlimited fuel to be present and make the contribution
I was put here to make
It's that burning fire of really seeing my gifts
and sacredness of this Divine Appointment on
    Earth at this time
It's the burning fire which has illuminated the often hidden
truth of why I'm here and
what I'm to do to make my love radiate to All My Relations!
It's that burning fire which has helped me to
survive up until now but, also to see the survival ember
    NO longer works
    and that
Living the Sacred life now is the only fire
that now allows me to see those shadows in the corners
and closets which I am now embracing and seeing in a
profound, painful, honest, loving way I've never done
    at these depths before.
It's that burning fire that has allowed me to go into
my fear, anger, sadness, and surrender of self to become that person
GOD wants me to be rather that what I wanted to be.
    AND
It's that burning fire that gives me the courage to
Continue this Sacred Path not only for myself, but for my brothers and sisters!

Some Fill With Each Good Rain

There are different wells within your heart.
Some fill with each good rain,
Others are far too deep for that.

    In one well
You have just a few precious cups of water,
That "love" is literally something of yourself,
It can grow as slow as a diamond
    If it is lost.

    Your love
Should never be offered to the mouth of a
    Stranger,
    Only to someone
Who has the valour and daring
To cut pieces of their soul off with a knife
Then weave them into a blanket
    To protect you.

There are different wells within us.
Some fill with each good rain,
Others are far, far too deep
    For that.

    The Divine Mother

Hear me child, and know Me for who I am.

I have been with you since you were born, and I will stay with you until you return to Me at the final dusk.

I am the passionate and seductive lover who inspires the poet to dream.

I am the One who calls to you at the end of your journey. After the day is done, My children find their blessed rest in my embrace.

I am the womb from which all things are born.

I am the shadowy, still tomb; all things must come to Me and bare their breasts to die and be reborn to the Whole.

I am the Sorceress that will not be ruled, the Weaver of Time, the Teacher of Mysteries. I snip the threads that bring my children home to me. I slit the throats of the cruel and drink the blood of the heartless.

Swallow your fear and come to me, and you will discover true beauty, strength, and courage.

I am the fury which rips the flesh from injustice.

I am the glowing forge that transforms your inner demons into tools of power. Open yourself to my embrace and overcome.

I am the glinting sword that protects you from harm.

I am the crucible in which all the aspects of yourself merge together in a rainbow of union.

I am the velvet depths of the night sky, the swirling mists of midnight, shrouded in mystery.

I am the chrysalis in which you will face that which terrifies you and from which you will blossom forth, vibrant and renewed. Seek me at the crossroads, and you shall be transformed, for once you look upon my face, there is no return.

I am the fire that kisses the shackles away. I am the cauldron in which all opposites grow to know each other in Truth. I am the web which connects all things.

I am the Healer of all wounds, the Warrior who rights all wrongs in their Time.

I make the weak strong. I make the arrogant humble. I raise up the oppressed and empower the disenfranchised. I am Justice tempered with Mercy.

Most importantly, child, I am you. I am part of you, and I am within you. Seek me within and without, and you will be strong. Know me. Venture into the dark so that you may awaken to Balance, Illumination, and Wholeness. Take my Love with you everywhere and find the Power within to be who you wish.

    Immortality

    I feel in all my limbs His boundless Grace;
Within my heart the Truth of life shines white.
    The secret heights of God my soul now climbs;
No dole, no sombre pang, no death in my sight.

    No mortal days and nights can shake my calm;
A Light above sustains my secret soul.
All doubts with grief are banished from my deeps,
My eyes of light perceive my cherished Goal.

    Though in the world, I am above its woe;
I dwell in an ocean of supreme release.
    My mind, a core of the One's unmeasured thoughts;
The star vast welkin hugs my Spirit's peace.

    My eternal days are found in speeding time;
I play upon His Flute of rhapsody.
    Impossible deeds no more impossible seem;
In birth chains now shines Immortality.

    No Boundaries

We ran, breathless to the forests'
    full shadowed beauty.
    Reached trancelike lips toward lips
no trace of breath to break the magic.
    Pungent crackling leaves encircled
    lingering little limbs discovered
    heartbeats soaring towards each other.

    There beneath tall timber
    we melted, merged, meandered
    with no particular destination
    and treetops brushed our hair.

When I grew up, I wanted
    to marry the trees.
    but I forgot how.

    If I cannot forgive myself
    For all the blunders
    That I have made
    Over the years,
    Then how can I proceed?
    How can I ever
    Dream perfection-dreams?
    Move, I must, forward.
    Fly, I must, upward.
    Dive, I must, inward,
    To be once more
    What I truly am
    And shall forever remain.

I have come into this world to see this:
the sword drop from men's hands even at the height
    of their arc of anger

because we have finally realized there is just one flesh to wound
and it is His - the Christ's, our
    Beloved's.

I have come into this world to see this: all creatures hold hands as
we pass through this miraculous existence we share on the way
to even a greater being of soul,

a being of just ecstatic light, forever entwined and at play
    with Him.

I have come into this world to hear this:

every song the earth has sung since it was conceived in
the Divine's womb and began spinning from
    His wish,

every song by wing and fin and hoof,
every song by hill and field and tree and woman and child,
every song of stream and rock,

every song of tool and lyre and flute,
every song of gold and emerald
    and fire,

every song the heart should cry with magnificent dignity
    to know itself as
    God:

for all other knowledge will leave us again in want and aching -
    only imbibing the glorious Sun
    will complete us.

I have come into this world to experience this:

    men so true to love
they would rather die before speaking
    an unkind
    word,

men so true their lives are His covenant -
    the promise of
    hope.

I have come into this world to see this:
the sword drop from men's hands
    even at the height of
    their arc of
    rage

    because we have finally realized
    there is just one flesh

    we can wound.

    Where Angels Glow

    In silence
    eyes closed
I look for a moment to the higher realms
where angels glow with joyous love

I hear the whisper of wings
gliding down through the levels of ether and matter
and with it waves of light gently fill the room
so intense are they that I float freely from my shell

Carried by the wind of an outstretched wing
I travel not far to a temple of angels
where crystal like waters wash my fears and troubles away
calming assurance restored I am quietly returned

    Most thankful thoughts I send

    Hope

    It hovers in dark corners
before the lights are turned on,
it shakes sleep from its eyes
    and drops from mushroom gills,
it explodes in the starry heads
    of dandelions turned sages,
it sticks to the wings of green angels
that sail from the tops of maples.
It sprouts in each occluded eye
    of the many-eyed potato,
it lives in each earthworm segment
    surviving cruelty,
it is the motion that runs the tail of a dog,
it is the mouth that inflates the lungs
of the child that has just been born.
    It is the singular gift
    we cannot destroy in ourselves,
    the argument that refutes death,
the genius that invents the future,
    all we know of God.
It is the serum which makes us swear
    not to betray one another;
it is in this poem, trying to speak.

    Be Happy

    Be happy!

You will grow into God’s greatest blessing, His highest pride.

    Be happy!

Yesterday’s world wants you to enjoy its surrendering breath. Today’s world wants you to enjoy its surrendered breath. Tomorrow’s world wants you to enjoy its fulfilling breath.

    Be happy!

Be happy in the morning with what you have.
Be happy in the evening with what you are.

    Be happy!

Do not complain. Who complains? The blind beggar in you. When you complain, you dance in the mire of ignorance. When you do not complain, all conditions of the world are at your feet, and God gives you a new name: aspiration. Aspiration is the supreme wealth in the world of light and delight.

    Be happy!

Do you want never to be poor? Then be happy.
Do you want ever to be great? Then be happy.

    Be happy!

You will get what you like most.
You will get what you like best.

    Be happy!

God sees in you His aspiring creation. His transforming realization, His illumining revelation, and His fulfilling manifestation.

    Be happy!

    Be happy!

God sees in you another God. God sees you as another God. God sees you and Him as one.

    Sri Chinmoy

"Absence does make the heart grow fonder, because you realize and understand how important each person who shares' your journey with you, is.
We are not an island, but an oasis. We are there to give each a respite on their journey of life, and in doing so, en-liven our own journey."

    Elaine Fidyk

    Time To Blend

    There
    Always
    Arrives
    In all of
    Our lives
    A joyous
    Moment of
    Sweet silence
    Which notifies
    It is time to blend
    Into the vast horizon
Of the palette painting a days end
And there we find again our gentle loving eyes
Waiting as these divine peaceful skies
Of the eternal sunrise that is just
    Around the bend

    The Beauty of the Heart

    The beauty of the heart
    is the lasting beauty:
    its lips give to drink
    of the water of life.
    Truly it is the water,
    that which pours,
    and the one who drinks.
    All three become one when
    your talisman is shattered.
    That oneness you can't know
    by reasoning.

    Rumi

I'm Alive, I Believe In Everything

    Self. Brotherhood. God. Zeus. Communism.
    Capitalism. Buddha. Vinyl records.
Baseball. Ink. Trees. Cures for disease.
    Saltwater. Literature. Walking. Waking.
    Arguments. Decisions. Ambiguity. Absolutes.
    Presence. Absence. Positive and Negative.
    Empathy. Apathy. Sympathy and entropy.
Verbs are necessary. So are nouns.
Empty skies. Dark vacuums of night.
    Visions. Revisions. Innocence.
I've seen All the empty spaces yet to be filled.
I've heard All of the sounds that will collect
at the end of the world.
    And the silence that follows.

I'm alive, I believe in everything
I'm alive, I believe in it all.

    Waves lapping on the shore.
    Skies on fire at sunset.
Old men dancing on the streets.
    Paradox and possibility.
    Sense and sensibility.
    Cold logic and half truth.
    Final steps and first impressions.
    Fools and fine intelligence.
    Chaos and clean horizons.
    Vague notions and concrete certainty.
Optimism in the face of adversity.

I'm alive, I believe in everything
I'm alive, I believe in it all.

    Peace

    Behold, it comes in might,
The power that is not power,
The light that is in darkness,
    The shade in dazzling light.

It is joy that never spoke,
    And grief unfelt, profound,
    Immortal life unlived,
    Eternal death unmourned.

It is not joy nor sorrow,
    But that which is between,
It is not noght nor morrow,
But that which joins them in.

    It is sweet rest in music;
    And pause in sacred art;
    The silence between speaking;
Between two fits of passion --
It is the calm of heart.

    It is beauty never seen,
    And love that stands alone,
It is song that lives un-sung,
    And knowledge never known.

It is death between two lives,
    And lull between two storms,
    The void whence rose creation,
    And that where it returns.

    To it the tear-drop goes,
    To spread the smiling form
It is the Goal of Life,
And Peace -- its only home!

    Silence II

Silence is not a lack of words.
Silence is not a lack of music.
Silence is not a lack of curses.
Silence is not a lack of screams.
Silence is not a lack of colors
or voices or bodies or whistling wind.
Silence is not a lack of anything.

    Silence is resting, nestling
in every leaf of every tree,
    in every root and branch.
    Silence is the flower sprouting
    upon the branch.

    Silence is the mother singing
    to her newborn babe.
    Silence is the mother crying
    for her stillborn babe.
Silence is the life of all
    these babes, whose breath
    is a breath of God.

Silence is seeing and singing praises.
Silence is the roar of ocean waves.
    Silence is the sandpiper dancing
    on the shore.
Silence is the vastness of a whale.
Silence is a blade of grass.

    Silence is sound
    And silence is silence.
    Silence is love, even
the love that hides in hate.

    Silence is the pompous queen
and the harlot and the pimp
hugging his purse on a crowded street.

    Silence is the healer dreaming
    the plant, the drummer drumming
the dream. It is the lover's
    exhausted fall into sleep.
It is the call of morning birds.

Silence is God's beat tapping all hearts.

Silence is the star kissing a flower.

Silence is a word, a hope, a candle
    lighting the window of home.

Silence is everything --the renewing sleep
of Earth, the purifying dream of Water,
the purifying rage of Fire, the soaring
and spiralling flight of Air. It is all
    things dissolved into no-thing--Silence
    is with you always.....the Presence
    of I AM

    Patience

    Patience is the best
    Shock – absorber.
    Patience is the highest
    Peace – discover.
    Patience is the greatest
    Perfection – believer.

Patience is the soul – power
    Concealed.
Patience is the heart – tower
    Revealed.

In between your failure – tree
    And your triumph – tree,
    The tree that is growing
Is known as your patience tree.

    Yesterday
    Patience was the beginning
    Of my perfection.
    Today
    Patience is the flowering
    Of my satisfaction.

From “Wings of Joy” by Sri Chinmoy

    "The same stream of life
    that runs through the world
    runs through my veins
night and day in rhythmic measure.

It is the same life that shoots in joy
through the dust of the earth
    into numberless waves of flowers."

    Rabindranath Tagore

    The Triumph of the Soul

Joy! Joy! I triumph! Now no more I know
Myself as simply me. I burn with love
Unto myself, and bury me in love.
The centre is within me and its wonder
Lies as a circle everywhere about me.
Joy! Joy! No mortal thought can fathom me.
I am the merchant and the pearl at once.
Lo, Time and Space lie crouching at my feet.
Joy! Joy! When I would reveal in a rapture.
I plunge into myself and all things know.

    Attar

    Lost

Stand still. The trees ahead and bushes beside you
Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,
And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,
Must ask permission to know it and be known.
The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,
I have made this place around you,
If you leave it you may come back again, saying Here.
No two trees are the same to Raven.
No two branches are the same to Wren.
If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,
You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows
Where you are. You must let it find you.

    Touched By An Angel

    We, unaccustomed to courage
    exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
    and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life. Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
    old memories of pleasure
    ancient histories of pain.
    Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
    from our souls.
We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
    we dare be brave
    And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
    and will ever be.
    Yet it is only love
    which sets us free.

    Maya Angelou

    Finding Our Way Back Home

With these words I send some light
With healing power to your Heart
I hope it helps to ease some pain
Of what is tearing you apart

    Life sometimes can seem cruel
And we are left to wonder why
But we are never alone my friend
We are all learning, You and I

We have in life many lessons
For our Spirits need to grow
    We learn from our pain
It's what our Souls need to know

So if sometimes you feel helpless
And your Heart feels all alone
Just remember we are all aboard this journey
One day we'll find our way back home.

    No Coward Soul is Mine

    No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the worlds storm-troubled sphere:
    I see Heavens glories shine,
And faith shines equal, arming me from fear.

    O God within my breast.
    Almighty, ever-present Deity!
Life -- that in me has rest,
As I -- Undying Life -- have power in Thee!

    Vain are the thousand creeds
    That move men's hearts: unutterably vain;
    Worthless as withered weeds,
Or idlest froth amid the boundless main,

    To waken doubt in one
    Holding so fast by Thine infinity;
    So surely anchored on
    The steadfast Rock of immortality.

    With wide-embracing love
    Thy Spirit animates eternal years,
    Pervades and broods above,
Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates, and rears.

Though earth and man were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
    And Thou wert left alone,
Every existence would exist in Thee.

There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Thou -- Thou art Being and Breath,
And what Thou art may never be destroyed.

    Emily Bronte

    "The individual may be understood
    as one particular focal point
at which the whole universe expresses itself -
as an incarnation of the self, or of the Godhead,
or whatever one may choose to call it."

    Alan W. Watts

    The Crystal Gazer

I shall gather myself into my self again,
I shall take my scattered selves and make them one.
I shall fuse them into a polished crystal ball
Where I can see the moon and the flashing sun.
I Shall sit like a sibyl, hour after hour intent.
Watching the future come and the present go -
And the little shifting pictures of people rushing
In tiny self-importance to and fro.

    Sarah Teasdale

    "God creates each soul differently,
so that when all the mud is finally cleared away,
His light will shine through it
in a beautiful, colourful, totally new pattern."

    M. Scott Peck

    I Am

I am! The ages on the ages roll:
And what I am, I was, and I shall be:
by slow growth filling higher Destiny,
And Widening, ever, to the widening Goal.
I am the Stone that slept; down deep in me
    That old, old sleep has left its centurine trace;
I am the plant that dreamed; and lo! still see
That dream-life dwelling on the Human Face.
    I slept, I dreamed, I wakened: I am Man!
    The hut grows Palaces; the depths breed light;
Still on! Forms pass; but Form yields kinglier
    Might!
The singer, dying where his song began,
In Me yet lives; and yet again shall he
    Unseal the lips of greater songs To Be;
For mine the thousand tongues of Immortality.

    - Voltaraine De Cleyre

    I Have Two Teachers

    In my private room
    I talk to two teachers:
    God and dog.

    My God-Teacher
    Teaches me how to
    Lead and Guide.

    My dog-teacher
    Teaches me how to
    Follow and Serve.

    My teachers
    Are supremely
    Satisfied with me.

    My God-teacher
    Has made me the
    Leader and Guide
    Of the cosmic gods.

    My dog-teacher
    Has made me the
    Follower and Server
    Of mankind.

    Do Not Worry

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more important than food,
and the body more important than clothes?
    Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

    Matthew 6: 25

    On a Clear Day

     - A song from a movie with a very young Barbara Streisand

    On a clear day
    Rise and look around you
And you'll see who you are

    On a clear day
    How it will astound you
That the glow of your being
    Outshines every star
You feel part of every mountain
    Sea and shore
And you can hear from far and near
A world you've never heard before

    And on a clear day
    On that clear day
You can see forever and ever more

You feel part of every mountain
    Sea and shore
And you can hear from far and near
A world you've never heard before

    And on a clear day
    On that clear day
You can see forever and ever and ever more

Crossroads (In Love)  By Peter Makena

    When you adopt the viewpoint
That all that exists within your circle of life
Is nothing but another part of you.

When you come to the conclusion
That there is no one who exists, who is not a part of you,

You will wisely extend to yourself
An unconditional love that will be
The light of your day, the light of your night
The light that lightens up this world of ours.

When you come to the crossroad
Where you can choose which road to take
For the highest good of all

When you stand at the seashore
And your boat is ready to take off and sail,
    To follow an inner call.

You will wisely extend to yourself
An unconditional love that will be
The light of your day, the light of your night
The light that lightens up this world of ours.

Look for that which does not come or go …
    An all pervading light.

    The Intellectual Quest

The intellectual quest is exquisite like pearls and coral,

But it is not the same as the spiritual quest.

The spiritual quest is on another level altogether,

Spiritual wine has a subtler taste.

The intellect and the senses investigate cause and effect.

The spiritual seeker surrenders to the wonder.

    On Dreams by Sri Chinmoy

Each dream is a creation. Each creation is either conscious aspiration or unconscious aspiration. Our aspiration enters into the desire-life, the little brother, and helps him clean his body, purify his mind and illumine his earthly existence. Each iota of aspiration also expedites the arrival of realisation. Our aspiration enters into the realisation-life or brings the realisation-life into the aspiration-life in order to make the aspiration-life completely perfect for the awakening of our physical reality and for the blossoming of the soul-reality, which is within us and for us.

A dream is God's creation in the inner world. From the inner world we enter into the realisation-world. Creation and dream, aspiration and realisation-they are all members of the same family. If we can become aware of one, then automatically we can have the other three; for our dream is, after all, a disguised reality, and a disguised reality done not remain always in disguise. It purifies our mind. It offers dynamism to our vital and it offers an inner awakening in our physical reality.

From: Everest Aspiration at Sri Chinmoy Library

    Oneness

    Oneness is the perfect expansion
    Of our inner reality.
Let our heart’s oneness only increase
    To make us feel
That we belong to a universal world – family,
    And this world – family
Is a fulfilled Dream of God.

My love throbbing says: "God is all blessing." God's Love smilingly says: "My child is all gratitude."

Mine is the love that has the birthless origin and the deathless end.

    Sri Chinmoy

    LIFE IS A JOURNEY

Birth is a beginning and death a destination
    And life is a journey:
    From childhood to maturity and youth to age;
    From innocence to awareness and ignorance to knowing;
From foolishness to desecration and then perhaps to wisdom.
From weakness to strength or from strength to weakness and often back again.
From health to sickness and we pray to health again.
From offence to forgiveness, from loneliness to love, from joy to gratitude, from pain to compassion, from grief to understanding, from fear to faith, from defeat to defeat to defeat until looking backwards or ahead.
We see that victory lies not at some high point along the way but in having made the journey step by step a sacred pilgrimage.
Birth is a beginning and death a destination
    And life is a journey:
A sacred journey to life everlasting.

    Basic Principles of Bashar's Messages

    Through Darryl Anka     http://www.bashar.org/

*You are a non-physical consciousness that is experiencing physical reality.

*You were created in the image of The Creator, your essential essence is unconditional love and the experience of ecstasy is your birthright.

*You are here on Earth at this time because you chose to be.

*The highest purpose of your life is to be yourself to the best of your ability and live each moment as fully     as possible.

*You always have free will and the freedom to choose.

*Anything you can imagine is possible for you to experience.

*You attract your life experiences through the interaction of your strongest beliefs, emotions and actions.

*Excitement is the physical translation of the vibrational resonance that is your true, core natural being. Follow your excitement!

*You are naturally abundant and your choices are always supported by Creation.

*There are only Four Laws in Creation:
    1. You exist.
    2. The One is All and the All are One .
    3. What you put out is what you get back.
    4. Change is the only constant...
Except for the first three laws, which never change.

*There is actually only one moment in Creation. Everything you experience is the same moment from a different point of view.

*You create the past and the future from the here and now.

*You are an eternal being and while you may change your form, you cannot cease to exist.

*Everything you experience is another aspect of yourself.

*You are loved so unconditionally by Creation that you can even choose to believe that you are not loved.

    Innocence is Now

"When you find yourself in the present moment, there is nothing to do. The river of time is allowed to flow. You experience the eddies and currents, shallows and depths, in a new context: innocence. The present moment is naturally innocent. The now turns out to be the only experience that doesn’t go anywhere. How can this be true when I’ve said that that the whole purpose of time is to unfold the steps of evolution? That’s the mystery of mysteries. We grow and yet life remains eternal at the core. Imagine a universe expanding through infinite dimensions at infinite speed, completely free to create everywhere at once. To go along for the ride we need do nothing but remain absolutely still."

    Deepak Chopra
