Science
- it is expected that students will be able to:
  • identify living resources in the environment 
  • describe all organisms in terms of their roles as part of interconnected food webs
  • describe ways in which species interact with each other
  • compare and contrast the major biogeoclimatic zones 
  • determine the limiting factors for ecosystems
  • outline the stages of recovery of a damaged ecosystem
Language Arts
- it is expected that students will be able to:
  • use a variety of sentences in their written work
  • adjust their degree of language formality as required by the form and purpose of their presentations
  • demonstrate their  knowledge of the basic conventions of public speaking
  • use the conventions of spelling, punctuation, and capitalization in a consistent manner
  • summarize what they know about specific topics or issues and identify and address gaps in the information available
  • select a means of organizing information and ideas that is appropriate for their purpose and audience
  • revise and edit to improve basic content, organization, and effect to best suit their audience and purpose
Information Technology
- it is expected that students will be able to:
  • locate and interpret details in print and nonprint media to gather information and build understanding
  • interpret details in simple and direct illustrations, maps, charts, and other graphic representations
  • locate and interpret details to answer specific questions or complete tasks
  • describe what is known about topics or issues and check for gaps in the information available
  • locate, gather, select, and record information for specific purposes from various print, and electronic sources
  • use manual and technological resources to edit for the correct use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Cooperative Learning
- it is expected that students will be able to:
  • assume a variety of roles when interacting in groups
  • use the language of praise and constructive feedback when working with others
  • listen to and express interest in the ideas of others
  • assess their own communications and their contributions to the group
  • share responsibility for the effective functioning of groups
  • develop strategies for resolving conflict and solving problems
  • use pre established criteria to evaluate group processes and their own contributions to the group
  • use a given list of criteria to revise their drafts
  • appraise their own and others’ work and make suggestions for revision
