A Solver for a Quartic Equation

This page contains a routine that solves a Quartic Equation. It is written in JavaScript, so make sure that JavaScript is enabled in your browser.

Once the problem is arranged into the following form (a, b, c, d, and e are known constants), the equation can be solved for values of x that satisfy the equation.

a x 4   +   b x 3   +   c x 2   +   d x   +   e   =   0

Since the equation is a fourth degree equation (the equation's highest power is four), there will be four solutions, output as x1, x2, x3, and x4.
