Stephen Coville

Stephen Coville pioneered the Coville way of life as gardeners at
Union Grove, Slab Street, in Augusta Township, Ontario.
He settled on Lot 21 in the 6th Concession of Augusta.

Stephen (Steven) Coville b. 1822 m. Mary Knapp. Steven and Mary's Children:

1. David Coville b. 16 May 1842 d. 1923 m. Mary Ann Vout (b. 18 Apr 1845 d. 1923, dau. of Robert Vout and Tabith Bertha Rose). Both are buried in Plot 69, Carpenter Cemetery, Augusta, Ont. David and Mary's Children:

2. Hiram Coville b. 1843 d. 1884 at age 44 m. Susan Donahue (also known As Grandma Tanney from her third marriage to Solomon Tanney. Her second marriage was to John David Wylie) approx. 1862. Hiram and Susan are buried in the old section of the Maynard Cemetery. Hiram and Susan's Children:

3. Stephen Coville b. 1855 d. 1938 m. Mary Kirkby. They are buried in the Carpenter Cemetery. They had no children, but they raised Stephen Kirkby, son of Joseph William Kirkby. Amos Coville Jr. and Stephen Wilson Coville dug their graves.

4. William Coville m. Elizabeth. Stayed in NY state. William And Elizabeth's Children:

5. Arville Coville m. Yankee Cook (of Texas) and George L. Place. Arville's Children:

6. Rachel Coville b. in Algonquin, Ont m. James H. Throop (b. 20 Feb 1836 in Algonquin, Ont. d. 9 Oct 1914 in Augusta, Ont., son of Benjamin Nelson Throop and Eliza A. Hill) in 1858. Rachel and James' Children:

7. Amerilla Coville Stayed in NY state.
