Philosophy

My role as a Caregiver is to provide Quality Care for your child(ren) which includes creating a warm, cozy and inviting environment; one which helps to foster positive (emotional, social, cognitive and physical) development, to let your child(ren) experience what life has to offer and to just let kids be kids.  I believe we at A Tiny Seed Child Care have accomplished this in a safe, caring, stimulating and fun manner.

A Tiny Seed Child Care strives to provide an environment in which all individuals (children and adults alike) are respected, included and celebrated for their unique cultures, diversities and abilities.  This enables children to develop independence as their potential allows.  We promote the development of self-esteem and responsibility through the encouragement of choice making, respect for self and acceptance of differences in others.  By creating this environment children are able to form friendships with the other children in care with whom they will gain a sense of belonging (acceptance), support and self-worth.

At A Tiny Seed Child Care, your child(ren) will benefit from:

  • Having one familiar and constant Caregiver throughout the day; this will help your child(ren) feel secure, protected, cared for and loved.
  • A family setting / home-like atmosphere; one which may be similar to the one they are already accustom to in their own home.
  • Dedicated areas where kids can be kids!  A Tiny Seed Child Care is run mainly from the entire lower level of my home and comes complete with toys (lots to go around), arts and crafts, playroom, kitchen, washroom, sleeping room, fenced back yard with a swing and slide set, jungle gym, sand box, water play station, outside toys and lots of space to run around.
  • Convenient neighbourhood care / school-age children can attend their neighbourhood school (i.e. Glenarye Elementary School).
  • A small, consistent group of children; this will ensure your child(ren) will receive more individual attention then he/she may possibly receive at a larger, institutional child care centre.
  • Multi-aged grouping; older child(ren) learn empathy for the younger child(ren) and younger child(ren) benefit by learning from the older child(ren).
  • Siblings can be cared for together.
  • A feeling of being accepted for who he / she is; no two children are alike and each child needs to be appreciated and celebrated for their differences.
  • Being encouraged to explore and try new things and by being given opportunities to succeed / feel a sense of accomplishment.
  • Personal relationships developed with the other children and the Caregiver’s family.
  • Family concepts being strengthened as well as a variety of family experiences being offered
  • Being a part of a fun, flexible, yet consistent schedule / program; one which takes their needs and abilities into account and one which everyone is given the chance to participate.
  • Learning through play by meeting their physical, intellectual, language, emotional and social developmental needs in a fun, well organized and nurturing environment.
  • Exploring different childhood interests, such as: colours, shapes, numbers, letters, how things work, science experiments, animals, bugs, dinosaurs, role-play / dress up, puppet shows, etc.
  • Being exposed to early reading and math skills, language, rhythm, rhymes, poems, fine art.
  • Exploring different cultures - backgrounds, customs, holidays, foods, etc.
  • A wholesome, nutritious and homemade morning and afternoon snack and lunch (depending on which program your child is enrolled in).
  • The policies and procedures as laid out in our Family Child Care’s ‘Parent Package’

You, the Parent(s) / Guardian(s) will additionally benefit from:

  • An Open Door Policy; as a parent of a child enrolled at A Tiny Seed Child Care, it is important that you feel comfortable at the family childcare at all times.  This means you are welcome anytime to join us during the day.
  • Being valued and appreciated for your knowledge, understanding and love that you have for your child(ren).
  • Open communication between the Caregiver and yourselves.
  • Being involved with a Caregiver who is willing to work with you to develop common goals with respect to your child(ren).
