In September 2000 I submitted a Solve-it manuscript, "The Unsuspecting Pilot", to MysteryNet. After some minor editing and revision, it was accepted for publication. However, their contract (which I did not see until after my work was accepted) requires the writer to surrender copyright under the "work for hire" segment of the United States Copyright Act. I found this to be rather presumptuous and attempted (in a courteous, professional, and businesslike manner) to negotiate with them. Unfortunately, they seemed unwilling to adequately explain themselves or discuss the ramifications with me. They've long since stopped responding to my emails so at this point I've given up on negotiating a contract with them.

However, I haven't given up on this piece. I now have two little puzzle stories that I'm hoping to find homes for, either in puzzle form or as straight short mystery stories.
