Life is full of challenges. That's why we have heads, and brick walls to bang them on.

Current Projects

I am currently working on a humourous fantasy novel. I can't really say much about it right now, except that it's both a lot of fun and a lot of work. I've had favourable reactions to it so far, but I have a long way to go before it'll be done.

I'm also helping put together an anthology of stories written primarily by members of a fantasy writer's group I belong to. It wouldn't be entirely inaccurate to call me an editorial lackey on that project.

And I'm trying to find publishers for some shorter things I've written, including short stories, narrative verse poetry, and a children's fantasy adventure. People that have read them have enjoyed them, but I still need to find publishers willing to pay me actual money for them. In the case of the children's story, two different professional literary agents who specialize in children's books have said it's very good, but unfortunately they don't handle this particular type of book. There are more details here.

Conferences

In October, 2004 I attended the Surrey International Writers' Conference for the third time. I had a wonderfully informative and inspiring weekend. Read my take on it here.

On the Back Burner

Most of my previously published work has been fantasy short stories and poems. While my current work on my novel has significantly reduced the number of those that I write, I still take a break and write them now and then. While it's a much lower priority these days, I haven't stopped entirely.

Other low priority projects that I dig out from time to time include short mystery puzzle stories (with which I had a less than stellar experience with one publisher), and short romance stories.

Past Publications

To date I've had over thirty stories, poems, essays, and articles published in paying markets. You can read some selections here. I've also sold over forty storyboards for animated electronic greeting cards.

Many of my published stories and poems were written for The Gryphon's Grimoire, but the ezine it was published in has suspended publication, and it now appears that it's gone for good.
