The Okanagan Retriever Club and BC Association of Retriever Clubs are proud to host the 2003 Canadian National Amateur Retriever Championship near Logan Lake, B.C. The Logan Lake grounds were used successfully to host the National Retriever Championships in 1998 and 2001 and is again expected to provide a memorable and challenging venue for this years trial. The two clubs have assembled a team of hard working dedicated workers from across the province of British Columbia to organize and coordinate this event.

LOCATION

Logan Lake is situated in the heart of the Highland Valley, 60 kilometres south of Kamloops via Highway 5, 24 kilometres west of the Coquihalla Highway and 47km NW of Merritt via Hwy. 97C. The headquarters and most events will be held in the town of Logan Lake. Originally developed as an instant community to service the copper mines, Logan Lake has grown to become a diversified community. With a population of 2650, it has all the conveniences of a city, but offers a life of quiet living in one of the most pristine natural environments in the world.

The Okanagan Retriever Club and BC Association of Retriever Clubs propose to hold all tests on or near the Tunkwa Lake trial grounds located approximately 15 miles northwest of Logan Lake on all weather roads. The grounds are located in alpine terrain consisting of numerous lakes, forests, rolling hills and meadows. Not only will the grounds provide challenging tests on both water and land for the competitors but the scenery will provide a spectacular background for everyone's enjoyment. The alpine lakes include points and islands as well as shoreline cattails and grasses. Similarly the land terrain varies from relatively flat meadows to steep side hills. Together with the variable rolling terrain and picturesque background, the gallery setups are expected to provide superior viewing for the tests.

For those wanting to spend some quality time before or after the trial enjoying excellent fishing in this area bring along your gear. Additional tourism information including accomodations, camping facilities, amenities and key contacts can be viewed on the following links:
