Watchman Nee Refused
Screaming Mantra
From Nee's words, we come to see that he refused adamantly any such behavior as
exhibited in the lsm/lc cult of Witness Lee. There was
no screaming in the
little flock. One also realizes the reason the Leeist shouts so much in such
a repetitive brainwashing fashion is because Christians will not listen to them,
so they shout louder and louder, even violently.
Nee writes in The Ministry of God's Word (212-218, CFP),
"Since your emotion does not correspond to the words, you try to raise your
voice and shout. Many brothers shout with their voices. However they shout not
to be heard by others but to be heard by themselves. You are helpless, so you
shout. You are aware that your feeling is inadequate."
"Many spend half their strength convincing themselves while speaking on the
platform. This is because their feeling is so unusable...Who will believe us if
we speak without feeling it? We may raise our voice even louder, yet all is of
no avail. We ourselves sense how tasteless it is; we may even feel like
laughing, for it appears to be a performance."
"The word of God is full of emotion. It should not be recited verbatim in a
mechanical way...A loud voice is indeed nothing...There is no merit in a loud
voice."
"Please never learn to perform. People with discernment immediately recognize a
performance that has been falsely manufactured by man. There ought never to be
any human manufacturing because it invariably spoils the word of God...Some have
been tightly bound in their emotion all their lives. They are cold that they
cannot dance when piped to and cannot weep when wailed at."
"Most people's emotions are spent only on themselves...absolutely no feeling
towards others...all their feelings revolve around themselves. God must deliver
them out of such confines."
"A spiritual man is rich in all kinds of feeling. The more spiritual a man is,
the richer is his feeling. It is not true that the more spiritual a man is, the
less his feeling."
What may we observe by these words? Nee speaks of "affections and feelings", as
two of the major components of emotion [see Part 1, chapter 2; Part 7,
chapters 2 and 4], not as Witness Lee altered The Spiritual Man,
changing the 3 major
aspects of emotion to hate, love, and affected. Why does Witness Lee want to
limit man's emotions? For control and manipulation to take advantage of the
gullible.
Emotion is a most sensitive facet of our soul, but it is still too rough to be
employed by God. Like a grain seed that needs to be crushed into fine powder, or
like that of a painter that mixes colors, it too must be fine otherwise it will
be too coarse. So it is with our emotion. If we constrict the emotion as Witness
Lee tries to do to focus on hate and shouting, and not allow the full range of
emotion to be used by God in the ministry of the word, then the emotion can not
be secured in the tender and keen condition God needs. A fine emotion is an
emotion that is spread evenly.
