Deceptions

Watchman Nee: "'He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward' (Matt. 10.41). Here the Lord reveals the depth of the human heart. The decision one makes concerning a truth will be expressed by him before God. In receiving a prophet or righteous man, your spirit unites with the prophecy of the prophet or the morals of a righteous man. Hence you will receive a prophet's or a righteous man's reward. Whatever is done for the Lord will be rewarded" (KKH, p.110). "Freely ye received, freely give" (Matt. 10.8). "The prophet is a watchman for my God over Israel, yet traps are laid in front of him wherever he goes. He faces hostility even in the house of God" (Hosea 9.8).

Watchman Nee prophesied his own imprisonment in 1953 for life, though he may not have realized it, when he wrote in 1927, "He persecutes fiercely (Rev. 2.10). The wiles of the Devil are manifold. He will use all kinds of means to hinder the spiritual advance of the believer. When he finds that he cannot block the advance, he will use persecution to put the believer in prison so that the latter is unable to work for the Lord anymore. He even expects the believer to fall. For this reason, all who love self and are mindful of themselves are no match for Satan; for as they are threatened with deadly persecution they shall lose the will to resist. But the faithful of the Lord have already put life and death out of their mind. Although they may encounter bounds and tribulations everywhere, even to the point of death, yet 'they loved not their life even unto death' (Rev. 12.11). And thus shall they overcome Satan: 'this is the victory that have overcometh the world, even our faith' (1 John 5.4)". (CFP white covers)

Watchman Nee - Who was he?

Watchman Nee wrote The Spiritual Man (pdf) - one of only two books he published, preserved at Christian Fellowship Publishers. I have no affiliation with them. In talking to the manager by phone several years ago, he allowed me in perpetuity to put these pages up of Nee's writings, including a few pdf's, which are only a small fraction of his total writings, for the purpose of quick reference. He knew my appreciation for Nee's writings accurately preserving God's Word so the manager of CFP gave permission. This is the same manager who wrote me a letter saying he had no idea where LSM got some of the things they say Nee said in chapter 2, volume 1 of The Spiritual Man.

You ought to be born-again after reading the first 77 pages (in book format) of The Spiritual Man. The only way God can save you is if you accept His perfect salvation in Jesus Christ who broke into creation and died for you on the cross - the perfect sacrifice  - to regenerate your spirit (inner man). What you receive is a new spirit which allows the Person of the Holy Spirit to enter through the window of your conscience to indwell your intuitive spirit, Who guides you, and testifies therein. Read carefully with a heart of understanding.

How to Read Watchman Nee Properly!

1) Watchman Nee's writings were translated by Stephen Kaung into fifty-five books at Christian Fellowship Publishers from mostly Nee's magazines, plus a study guide for The Spiritual Man called Journeying Towards The Spiritual and a book for prayer, Powerful According to God. There are also three books by Kaung which are excellent. I have found these two writers, as well Jessie Penn-Lewis to be the most memorable and effective for my life. I can not even say a single thing against them in the writings themselves for their work seems perfect. This is really the only authentic and trustworthy source for Nee's writings. I have no affiliation with them. I just love deeper spiritual truths; when accepted, grace enters to produce the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Reading the Bible along with the most spiritual of Christian writers is profitable for we are not an island unto ourselves. We need two or three in agreement, and so shall it be in heaven.

2) Watchman Nee was also translated by Angus Kinnear into 5 books from Nee's magazines, plus a study guide for The Normal Christian Life and a biography, Against the Tide, at Christian Literature Crusade. At CLC are two other translations: David Smith translated Song of Songs, and Sure Foundation translated Release of the Spirit. I have found Angus Kinnear mistaken on a few occasions in his biography and the footnotes to his translations which is why I recommend just the white covers only!

3) Read only the white covers first. Later, read Kinnear's translations, then venture into other views and translations if you wish, and you will see them for what they are (see Misreading Nee). This course of action is most profitable in this order. It may not seem apparent now, but years down the road these instructions will be appreciated in that it is better to start with reading that which is most spiritual, trustworthy, and accurate first. It is better to never read Nee at all than to start reading from the false translations and false views. That will totally mess you up.
