Was there a Hell Disclosed in the OT?

The Furnace of Fire

If you become dross, and never receive initial salvation according to John 3.16,18, there is a hell fire fore you as told about in the Old Testament, which is an eternal separation from God.

Eze 22:18

Son of man, the house of Israel is become dross unto me: all of them are brass and tin and iron and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are the dross of silver.

Eze 22:19

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye are all become dross, therefore, behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.

Eze 22:20

As they gather silver and brass and iron and lead and tin into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my wrath, and I will lay you there, and melt you.

Eze 22:21

Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you with the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.

Eze 22:22

As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I, Jehovah, have poured out my wrath upon you.

Compare Ezekiel 22.18-22 to these additional verses. To preserve Israel is to imply that some will not be preserved. To not be preserved is a place one could construe as hell.

Isa 31:5

As birds hovering, so will Jehovah of hosts protect Jerusalem; he will protect and deliver [it], he will pass over and preserve [it].

Isa 31:6

Turn ye unto him from whom ye have deeply revolted, O children of Israel.

Here again, we see a furnace of fire from Israel. In other words, God first revealing Himself to the nation of Israel, we first learn of a hell, which would be a dimension of eternal separation for those unsaved. How righteous is God to do this, for many will never accept the one who created them, nor His redemption of atonement, bearing the sins of the world.

Isa 31:8

And the Assyrian shall fall by the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of men, shall devour him; and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become subject to taskwork.

Isa 31:9

And his rock shall pass away by reason of terror, and his princes shall be dismayed at the ensign, saith Jehovah, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.

What is the fate of the wicked, the unsaved? Furnace of fire, which is hell.

Mal 3:18

Then shall ye return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Time and time again, in the Old Testament, we see  that hell burneth as furnace, where the unregenerate are headed. All they need to be is proud, like Satan, who called Jesus a liar, as he tried to exalt himself equal with God, and gain the world. That day is coming, says God, and it will leave them without anything, neither root nor branch. They shall be quenched by hellfire.

Mal 4:1

For, behold, the day cometh, it burneth as a furnace; and all the proud, and all that work wickedness, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith Jehovah of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

Here again, is the hell mentioned in the Old Testament.

Isa 30:33   Topheth--the place of burning--has long been ready for the king; it has been piled high with wood. The breath of the LORD, like fire from a volcano, will set it ablaze.

For those that are saved, there is a different destination in Jerusalem on earth, and after the millennial kingdom, the New Jerusalem will come down from heaven to be the New City on the New Earth after the Earth burns up. What victory! What glory!

Isa 66:20   And they shall bring all your brethren out of all the nations as an oblation unto Jehovah, upon horses, and in chariots, and in covered waggons, and upon mules, and upon dromedaries, to my holy mountain, to Jerusalem, saith Jehovah, as the children of Israel bring an oblation in a clean vessel into the house of Jehovah.

Eventually that day of reckoning will come. In that day, the worm does not die because it can continually feed upon those in hell, and the fire never burns out, because the soul of the unsaved never gets annihilated. To abhor so greatly is an eternal separation.

Isa 66:23   "All humanity will come to worship me from week to week and from month to month.
Isa 66:24   And they shall go forth, and look upon the dead bodies of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
