1987 TTC Toronto ALRV Streetcar (4200-4251 series)

The prototype of Articulated Canadian Light Rail Vehicle (ALRV) was built in 1982 and was numbered 4900 by TTC. The order for 52 cars was placed in 1984 and they were delivered to Toronto between 1987 and 1989. This group of 76' cars was numbered 4200-4251. The first ALRV, #4204 entered service on Route 507 (Long Branch) on January 19, 1988. After further deliveries, revenue service commenced on routes 501 and 511. The propulsion systems for ALRVs was supplied by Brush (England) and the trucks by MAN (Germany) to provide economies to the TTC because these companies were the subcontractors on the new subway car contract, awarded in December 1983.

1946 Toronto Transit Commission Pullman-Standard PCC (Job 6750; A11-class, 4625-4674 series, ex-Cleveland acq. in 1952/53) - as outshopped by TTC in 1953.
Early in 1952 the Cleveland Transit System offered their PCC fleet for sale and Toronto Transit Commission specialist went to Ohio to inspect the vehicles and have found them in an excellent condition. TTC offer of $17,500 each for the 75 PCC was accepted by Cleveland Transit System in August 1952 and fifty Pullmans were shipped to Toronto between October 1952 and August 1953. The Cleveland Pullmans became TTC Class A11 and were numbered 4625-4674. They were refurbished by TTC and entered service in Toronto between February and November 1953; all Cleveland Pullmans were originally designed for subway-surface operation and were already wired for this type of service; cars 4627 and 4656 were equipped with couplers early in their TTC carriers; all other A11s received the couplers in late 1953 and early 1954. A11s were initially assigned to Harbord and Carlton routes at first and after the remaining MU equipment had been installed, the ex-Cleveland Pullmans together with A12 class joined the A7 class in providing two-car trains on the long Bloor and Danforth lines. The A11 class was withdrawn from service in Toronto in 1982.

"Stock" version of this model represents "as outshopped by TTC in 1952-53" livery with old TTC logo and "EXIT ONLY" signs at centre exit door, one-piece roll signs and without couplers (they will be included within the model separately). Cars 4627 and 4656 will be supplied with two-pieces roll signs and with installed couplers). See additional ordering options here.

1947 Toronto Transit Commission Pullman-Standard PCC (Job W-6777,A13-class, 4700-4747 series, acq. in 1953, ex Birmingham)
Early in 1953 Toronto Transit Commission purchased forty-eight PCC cars from Birmingham, Alabama. These cars were built by Pullman-Standard for the "Pittsburgh of the South" in 1946/47 and were only six years old when they were shipped to Toronto in May 1953. The ex-Birmingham cars were assigned by TTC to class A-13, being numbered 4700-4747. All cars were extensively rebuilt to conform to TTC electrical, safety and appearance standards. The front doors on cars remained unchanged, but center exit door was replaced by standard TTC design. The wings around headlight were removed and regular TTC features (advance light, red warning light behind the center doors, chrome grab rail between the center doors etc.) were applied. The A-13 class was assigned to Roncesvalles carhouse until the last car was removed from service in 1981. Our models represent these fine cars at various stages throughout their long life on the TTC.
