Family Outing

Anchored at Oak Bay

My most treasured moments were the times I was joined by all of my immediate family for a weekend of sailing, swimming, hiking and gunkholing with the dinghy. These times were not always possible because, having three popular teenagers, one or more had other commitments but I frequently had the company of at least of one of them.

We had a two burner alcohol stove on board which was slow but the safest fuel you can use because the fumes rise compared to others which sink to the bilge causing a possibly explosive situation. The icebox was large enough to keep our perishables for 3 to 4 days or more. The sleeping accomodations were spacious and comfortable for the five of us. We had a large capacity water tank for our needs, if we were to run out, the lake water was clean enough to wash with and in most areas it was drinkable.

The one limiting factor to extended forays at anchor was the head, it had to be pumped out at facilities ashore.
