BACKGROUND TANG SOO DO CANADA is based in the province of beautiful British Columbia, Canada. We are dedicated to the development of Tang Soo Do and strive to preserve the traditional practices of this martial art. TSDC is led by a team of devoted and experienced instructors who are supported by a very energetic new generation of students. Heading the team is our Chief Instructor (Honorary) Mr. Chung Wha Yong, who is a very senior student of our founder Grandmaster Hwang Kee. For administration, trainings and development, we have our Instructor Mr. Christopher Teo who is assisted by our other Black Belts and officers. Tang Soo Do was initially introduced in Mission, B.C. in 1998. It started with a few students and in May 2001, it was introduced to Douglas College, New West campus in the Department of Sport, Recreation and Wellness under the Continuing Education Program. In summer of 2002, students of Simon Fraser University expressed tremendous interest and training has since been initiated. Also, from fall 2002 onward, Tang Soo Do has been available to all SFU students as an instructional program at its main campus on Burnaby Mountain, British Columbia. Currently Tang Soo Do is also promoted at schools and community centres. Starting January 6th 2004, regular training sessions will be conducted Place Maillardville Community Centre in Coquitlam, B.C. Our training and practices are based on the virtue and teaching by our founder, Grandmaster Hwang Kee. Through our Instructor, we are in liaison with other grandmasters and chief instructor who provide us with valuable technical supports and lots of new martial art techniques. As we train and practice, we encourage our members and students to exchange greetings and contact with other members worldwide no matter what class, color or creed the others may belong, all in the spirit of Moo Duk Kwan.
