Biography
After growing up in Kamloops, like most of my friends I bolted to
Vancouver. I later returned to Kamloops to clean out my subconscious
closet. In 1990 I achieved a Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD)
Diploma through UCC.
During the program I
constructed a scale model of the then Riverside Coliseum. This reignited
the flame under my creative backside. After graduation, my position at
Mader & Assoc. included drafting and model making and desktop
publishing. I am now the graphic designer for Fiscal Realities
Economists in Kamloops. My employer encouraged me to grow creatively by
completing various courses at UCC/TRU. Eventually I enrolled part time
in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program, and am currently in drawing. But
clay is my favored medium. Family, career, and school are forging peace
between the mechanic and the artist.

Artist's
Statement
After
disassembling my Dad’s watch and my Mom’s brooches, my parents
suggested the book “The Way Things Work,” and locked their finer
things away. As that technically-minded child, I continue to deconstruct
my scientific and natural environment and question my intrinsic
function. Questions arise from everywhere: publications, broadcasts,
conversations, or dreams. It is the quest for answers that inspires my
art. Through clay, and with deliberate control, patience and a devotion
to detail, I explore the How and Why. I’m compelled to master the
medium, to challenge myself in the process, and to resolve any questions
through experimentation. This linear reasoning infuses a narrative
quality; like a book perhaps, about how things work…
