I have recorded 3447 sets of quadruplets in the world as of November 2007.

First Surviving Set
The first set to survive that I found reference to living to adulthood is the Gehri set (Switzerland, September 26, 1880) 2 boys, 2 girls, Oskar, Arthur, Bertha, Rosa

63 sets - With the possibility of 72 sets in the world. 43 sets are all female and 20 sets are male.

Possibly Identical Sets

  1. 1830 - Von Winckel (Italy) reported to be monochorionic, none survived.
  2. 1847 - Unidentified (Germany, May 1847) girls, reportedly a single placenta.
  3. 1949 - Hargreaves/Oswald (Ontario, Canada) Joyce, Jennifer, Janice, Joan The Sault Ste. Marie family was featured in articles and apparently all four girls went into the medical/healthcare field, but I can find no further info on them.
  4. 1958 - Unidentified (England)
  5. 1967 - Fahrenkrog (Missouri) Paul, Dwayne, Bryan, Mark
  6. 1978 - Remy (Ontario, Canada) Laura, Layla, Lisa, Linda

26lbs+ - Tate (Ohio, October 20 1903) 4 girls,  each baby over 6lbs 8ozs. (Note: I am not sure if all 4 survived)
24lbs 9ozs - Unidentified (Egypt, November 6 1982) 6lbs 6ozs, 6lbs 6ozs, 6lbs 6ozs, 5lbs 5ozs (Note: I am not sure if all 4 survived)
22lbs 15 3/4 ozs - Saunders (England, February 7 1989) 2 boys, 2 girls

There is a report of a set born in Germany on July 27 1907 weighing a total of 29.9 lbs - 4 boys. All were reported to be living at 2 months.

Heaviest Birth Weight (Single Quad Baby, All 4 surviving)
6lbs 8ozs - One of the Tate quads (Ohio, October 20 1903) All four girls were 6lbs 8ozs or more. (Note: I am not sure if all 4 survived).
 6lbs 7ozs - Jill Michelle Strickland (Indiana, December 11 1983)
6lbs 6ozs - Unidentified (Egypt, November 6 1982) 3 of the quads were 6lbs 6ozs, the fourth was 5lbs 5ozs.

6lbs 9ozs - Alyssa, Ashley, Lindsay, & Kara Grady (Iowa, April 8 1998).
7lbs - Josie, Allison, Maggie & Sophia Crommet (Illinois June 2 2001).
7lbs 2ozs - Anthony, Billy, Curtis & Danny Librizzi (Pennsylvania, June 9 1996).

13.5ozs - Emma Cusatis (Delaware, September 23 2003).

Most Premature Quads (All surviving)
104 days (25 weeks, 1 day) - Ben, Hannah, Ryan, Lisa Tepper (Australia, February 20 1997).
102 days (25 weeks, 4 days) - Adam, Andrew, Aaron, Annissa Covaleski (Pennsylvania, January 1 1999).

Longest Gestation
37+ weeks - Singh (India, July 14 2001). Four boys
37 weeks - Christian, Francois, Simon and Marie-Pierre Guerette/Blouin (Quebec, Canada, May 5 1988).
37 weeks - Andrew, Alex, Tara and Carly Swick (born in Indiana, living in Missouri, January 16 1989)

Delayed Birth
13 days - Odinakachukwu, Chinedu, Chisom, and Kelechi Anyakudo/Enwere (Texas, February 1 and 13 1999) with all surviving.
10 days - Christopher, Matthew, Alexandra, and Sarah Iverson (Saskatchewan, Canada, November 21, 29 and 30 1993) with all surviving.

Oldest Quads (All still surviving)
70 years - Ernest, Paul, Michael and Anne Miles (England, November 28 1935).

Other quads that may qualify - Mahaney (Canada, 1923). I don't have information on if all 4 are still living. If they are, they would be the oldest quadruplets ever at 82.

Oldest Quads (History, at least one deceased)
79 years 316 days - Adolf, Anne-Marie, Emma, and Elisabeth Ottman (Germany, May 5 1912). Adolf died first.

Oldest Individual Quadruplet
90 years old - Roberta Keys Torn (Texas, June 4 1915)

Youngest Mother of Quads (When the quads were born)
15 years old - Bobby Jo Broviak (North Carolina, 1991) Spontaneous, Scott, Adam, Valerie, Brittany.
15 years old - Unidentified (Syria, June 13). Had 3 girls and 1 boy.
16 years old - Erin Belcher (Arkansas, April 17 1998). Spontaneous Ariel Sierra, Savannah Cheyenne, Kelsey Morgan and Skyler Sade.

Youngest Father of Quads (When the quads were born)
18 years old - Belcher (Arkansas, April 17 1998).

Oldest Mother of Quads (When the quads were born)
55 years, 286 days old - Merryl 'Mary' Fudel (California, April 18 1998). IVF Brooke (d), Brianna, Brittany, and Dario. She gave up for adoption 2 girls and kept the boy.
55 years - Singh (from India, born in Italy, August 2008) 4 boys, Manav, Manmeet, Roshan and Radveer

Oldest Mother of Spontaneous Quads (When the quads were born)
47 years - Takalane Makapile (South Africa, October 29 2005) 3 girls and 1 boy, no fertility methods. She has four grandchildren.

Oldest Father of Quads (When the quads were born)
75 years old - Amalfi (Colombia, August 9 1944). He had 30 children by his 1st wife and 13 with his second before the quads.

Schizophrenic Quads
The identical "Genain" quadruplets were girls born in the US and studied extensively because all four developed varying degrees of schizophrenia before age 24.

Hospital Delivering the Most Quads
75 sets - Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Arizona since 1986, as well as over 400 sets of triplets and 8 sets of quints and 2 set of sextuplets.. The quads are delivered at an average of 32 weeks, which is more than the national average of 29 1/2 weeks.

Most Sets
4 sets - Four people hold the record - Kirilow, Mrs. Feodor Vassiliev, Mrs. Zoellner, and an unidentified man and his wife.

Surrogate Quads
4 sets - There have been 4 sets born to surrogates in the US - 2 in California (Nelson & unid set), 1 in Arizona (Beehler) and 1 in Missouri (Thomas). The Dysarz/Meehan set were also surrogate, but conceived as quints.

Sets Born Per Year (USA)
Since 1989 there have been an average of 102 sets of quads born each year in the US.
7.74% of all quads will have some identical children.
