  The Bridge

 

     Duties of Bridge Officers

   Commander:  Responsible for the proper administration of the affairs of the Squadron.

   Squadron Executive Officer:  Assists the Commander in the day to day operations of the Squadron.
                     He/She represents the Commander at functions when the Commander cannot be 
                     present.

   Squadron Training Officer:  Responsible for Carrying out the training program which has been decided
                     upon by the Squadron Executive Committee.

   Squadron Secretary:  Maintains the non-financial records of the Squadron, and provides assistance and
                     advice to the Commander and Executive committee.

   Squadron Treasurer:  Maintains the financial records of the Squadron and provides advice to the
                    Commander and the Executive Committee with respect to the financial aspects of
                    the Squadron.

   Squadron Public Relations Officer (PRO):  Promotes activities of the Squadron.

   Squadron Supply Officer:  Responsible for ordering and selling Canadian Power Squadron regalia to 
                    members and coordinating the course supplies inventory.

   Squadron Membership Officer:  Provides assistance and advice to the Commander and Executive 
                    Committee with respect to the membership program that is undertaken, promotes 
                     membership to the Boating Course class and encourages continued membership to
                     the members of the Squadron.

   Squadron Editor:  Responsible for publishing the Squadron Newsletter.

   Squadron MAREP Officer (Hydrographic & Weather):  Provides assistance and advice to the
                    Commander and Executive Committee with respect to the MAREP program that
                    is undertaken.

   Squadron Cruise Master:  Responsible for organizing and overseeing Squadron cruises.  He will make 
                    sure that there is a Squadron member who coordinates the activities of each cruise, 
                    including reserving dock space and making any other necessary arrangements.  The 
                    Cruise Master does not normally participate in every cruise.

   Squadron Socials Officer:  Responsible for providing organizing the Squadron social events. This 
                    includes reserving rooms, coordinating refreshments, food and entertainment.

   Squadron Historian:  Responsible for keeping historical records of the Squadron.

   Squadron Assistant Training Officer   Assists the Training Officer in his duties.

   Squadron Auditor:  Audits the financial records of the Squadron. 

   Squadron VHF Training Officer:  Responsible for carrying out the VHF radio training program which 
                    has been decided upon by the Squadron Executive committee.

   Squadron Officers at Large:  Responsible to carry out other necessary duties which may not fall under 
                    the domain or jurisdiction of any particular Bridge Officer.

   Squadron Port Captains  Our Port Captains are the people who provide local information on the ports and water    bodies for which they are responsible.  We have two Port Captains who can provide up to date information on the different areas in which Valley Squadron members boat.
