VHF Radio Course

The fall VHF course begins Tuesday, April 17th at Sardis Secondary School (Chilliwack) at 7 pm.

To operate a maritime radio (VHF) you need a license to operate a VHF radio. It is the law! The Maritime Radio course teaches emergency radio procedures, as well as everyday operating techniques.

Learn all about the uses of marine radios, choice of frequencies, operation, phonetic alphabet, procedural words and phrases, as well as Digital Selective Calling and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, (DSC/GMDSS). All mariners, including recreational boaters, will want to take advantage of the many features and capabilities of this innovative form “automatic” radio.

The ROC(M) is a Canadian Federal government issued certificate that allows you to operate a marine VHF radio.is required by anyone using a marine VHF radio or other marine radios (each person on the boat who will use the radio needs their own card). There are significant fines if you are found using a VHF or marine radio without your card.
