What is Healing Through creative Art?
Art therapy takes place in a non-judgemental, supportive environment, where privacy, safety and respect are central elements. In that safe space, as trust develops, a rich experience of creativity is possible. Both children and adults use art materials freely, without any expectation of producing a beautiful product, but rather as a means of giving form to feelings and telling important stories.

The role of the art therapist is to actively support and witness this proccess. Art is not judged, interpreted or analyzed, but rather it raises curiosity and interest. For adults it is often through images, and the conversations they encourage, that new insights and connections happen

Children often tell their current story or resolve a conflict through their art in a way that does not need explaining. Making visible "the monster" and getting help in fighting him, or in finding out what he wants, is a powerful expansion of a child's experience. Using the art to express anger at an absent parent, and seeing that the anger is acceptable, sometimes provides relief.
