LADIES of VAN ZOR
President Daphne Keith
JUNE 2008
Greeting Ladies,
PRESIDENT'S REPORT
JUNE, 2008
Some of the Prophets are going to find this hard to believe, but I don't have anything to say; at least not much.
There is some sad news, unfortunately. Lady Helen Scott from placeCityPortland has started the next phase of life's journey. She passed away the other night at her daughter's home. I never met her but she was described as “one of the nicest ladies you'll ever meet.”
I would like to remind you about the Pitch and Putt on July 12th. We will start at 9:30 and when it is finished we head off to the Army and Navy Club in Steveston on Number 1 Road at Chatham. The Pitch and Putt is located at 9770 Pendleton, which runs east off Number 1 Road. (Francis and Number 1 Road). I've been assured that it shouldn't take much more than an hour. A putter and an iron plus balls and tees are all that are required. The cost is just under $5.00 so we aren't going to have to break open the piggy bank for this one. A nice change, don't you think? If you would like to join us, please call Harry or Daphne at 604-275-4169. We can still squeeze in a few more. If you don't want to “golf”, meet us at the Army and Navy!
Once that is behind us we will have the NWGA convention at the Abercorn and then we can catch our breaths until September 6 (7:00pm-10:00pm) when we have the dinner cruise out of New Westminster Quay. It is a return trip up to Fort Langley with dinner and dancing. The prices are: for those under 65 years, $29.95, for those over 65 years, $26.95. There are 4 menu choices and they are:
BBQ Steak with dinner roll, baked potato, veggies $19.95
½ Roast Chicken with dinner roll, rice, veggies $16.95
Salmon with dinner roll, rice, veggies $17.95
Vegetarian Lasagna with Caesar salad $14.95
There is a no-host bar. Tips and GST are extra.
Please call Harry or Daphne Keith at 604-275-4169 to reserve your seat.
********Would you be interested in a visit to a local winery? This is a possibility so please
********let me know if you would like to see something like this.*********
There has been no response to a possible wine tour so I suppose that means we should forget it. If you do want to have one, call me.
This is a reminder that there were two Notice of Motions in the last Flapper and they will be on June's agenda. We were not able to make the motions in May because we did not have a quorum.
Ladies, if there are any of you out there who think “I really should start going back to the Ladies, but maybe next time.” please let me alert you to the fact that if we do not have more interest in our group we will be forced to close. We are only having 8-9 turn out each meeting and sometimes not even that many.
