NOVEMBER 2009 “FLAPPER”
Greetings Ladies!
Another month has gone by very quickly. Our October chit chat was well attended. It was nice to see so many ladies.
For the ladies participating in the Rememberance Day Parade, November 11, I am hoping all the information will be out in the Yapper and in time..
November is our President's Dinner at Cravings Restaurant, 8804 Osler, in Vancouver. The date is Tuesday, November 10. The time is 7:00 p.m. Please let Jennifer know before November 5 if you plan to attend. Her phone no. is 778 892 2835 or email at jen@freecomputer.ca. Guests are more than welcome.
Christmas is creeping up on us and we are again planning our Christmas Gift Exchange and of course our Social along with the men. If you cannot make the dinner in November, please contact me regarding the Social, ONLY if you have not put your name on the Food List. My Number is 604 433 9600 and email is ed&lois@telus.net.
I am sorry to report that there has been Illness within the Ladies of Van Zor. Today I learned that Betty Burnett had a mini stroke but she said she is on the mend. Also Ethel MacLean has recently been a patient in Richmond Hospital and now is recovering from her surgery at home. After a nice long chat with Jessie Hurst, (she is fine and liking her new place) she mentioned that her sister, Hazel Buckley, is recovering in hospital from an infection along with pneumonia. Our prayers and very best wishes to you all for a very speedy recovery.
Also, our condolences to Margaret King whose husband Jack passed away recently. .
Our trip to Laughlin to attend the California, StateplaceArizona, Nevada Grotto Association Convention in October went well. The 7 of us had a very nice time. Didn't come home with any money, but there were no injuries (that made it a plus) and meeting up with our old friends from other Grottoes made the trip more than enjoyable. .
A note of interest to the Ladies who knew Marie and Bill Clydesdale. Ed, Harry Allen and myself visited with Bill last week at Laurel Place in Surrey where he is a resident. We had a very nice visit and brought Bill up to date with the happenings of both the Ladies and the Men of Van Zor. He did ask about many of you. We will be sure to visit again.
.
Birthday Wishes for November to Laura Gordey, Doreen Nordan.

Hope to see you at our November Dinner, November 10, 2009 at 7:00 P.M..
Yours in good Fellowship

A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said to him, ”I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut, then we will talk about it.” A month later the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said “Son, I'm real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you have studied your Bible diligently, but you didn't get a hair cut.” The young man waited a moment and replied, “You know dad I have been thinking about that. You know Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair.” His father replied. “Yes son, and they walked everywhere they went.”
