JUNE 2008
MONARCH'S REPORT:
Greetings Fellow Prophets! I trust that many of you will be at our next meeting which will be the last one prior to the summer months where there will not be any meetings. At least not until September! The next meeting will be a good meeting for us. The business will be short but we will Initiate a new member into the Grotto. It would be nice to see a good turn out of Prophets as we welcome a new member into our Grotto.
As I stated the next meeting will be our last until summer is over but let us not forget that we have the North West Grotto Convention coming on the 16th and 17th of July. So far very few have registered for the Convention but I suspect that will change. Many have indicated that they just haven't gotten around to registering yet but plan to. It will be held at the Abercorn Inn in Richmond and the Grand Monarch will be in attendance. In addition we will be making our new Grand Master a Prophet on Sight. We have also heard that he will be attending will all of his elected Officers from Grand Lodge. This will also mark our 50th Anniversary as a Grotto. If you have not registered yet please do so as soon as possible. Even if it is only for the Banquet where we will make the Grand Master a member of our Grotto. We will also be giving everyone who attends the Convention an anniversary beer mug to commemorate the 50th anniversary. For those of you who cannot make the convention for what ever reason you can still get the beer mug if you let us know ahead of time that you want one.
On July the 12th we will be having a get together for a “Pitch and Putt” golf game. It will be in Richmond at the corner of Francis Road and No. 1 Road. We will start golfing around 9:30 am and it takes about 1 hour to do the course. All you need is a 9 iron, Putter and some golf balls. If you haven't got any of these items you can get them there. After the golf game we are going to the Army and Navy club for lunch and then home. So far we have about 20 coming so it should be fun. It would be nice to see you there.
On Sunday, the 17th of August we are going for a brunch at the Bedford House in Fort Langley. Again it is just a get together over the summer months to tell stories and enjoy each others company. The brunch will start around noon hour and go for about 2 hours. If you are interested in attending please let us know.
On September the 6th we are going on a “Paddle Wheeler Cruise Ship” from New Westminster Quay for a 3 hours boat cruise. We will be departing on the cruise at 7 pm sharp and returning at 10 pm. The cost is $26.95 per person for those over 65 years of age and $29.95 for those under 65 years of age. There will be a meal and the prices vary from $14.95 to $19.95. This is not a fund raiser but simply an evening of sheer enjoyment with each other. Please mark this on your calendar and plan to attend.
Finally come our first meeting after the summer months and this meeting will be on the 9th of September. We will be Initiating 2 new candidates into the Grotto at this time.
I hope that everyone has a good summer and that the weather is also good for us and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible not only at our September meeting but at the other functions that we have planned between our last meeting prior to summer and during the summer months.
Yours in good fellowship
Robert McSween, Monarch

From your editor:
Hi everyone out there, I hope you are all well. I have been very busy with roofing problems and short trips to placeCityNashville and Los Angels. On May 16th PM Joe Cassidy & I went down to Tacobat and assisted them their Installation, Thanks Joe for the company and being my Installing Marshall.
There is a lot of activity getting ready for the NWGA Convention and Van Zor's 50th anniversary. PM Harry & Daphne have been working overtime organizing the Pitch & Putt and the Paddle Wheeler Cruise, all this while they are dealing with the sale of their home and planning to move somewhere.
The Champagne Brunch was very successful and plans are in the works for another one in the fall. I have booked a Sunday Brunch for Aug 17th so bring family & friends. We have been there before and the Ladies seem to like it there what with the knick-knack shops and what not in the area. We will also be going there for our Jingle Bell Brunch on Dec 14th. There is an Initiation at the next meeting so please try to be there and support both the new Candidate and the Team.
